Well this is an absolute bloody shambles of the highest order….

The feeling as an agronomist of finding problems for which you don’t have solutions. 0/10. Would not recommend.
Lets hope the spud market is as hungry as wireworm appears to be this season. 🪱 🥔

📹 Arable Agronomist, Chloe Kirkwood, was at our Helix Yorkshire site with host farmer, Rebecca Wilson recently, exploring the technology on farm that is helping drive smarter decisions.
The focus this year is to bring together different technologies to better understand crop health, soil function, nutrient use and disease risk throughout the season.
The technology on farm this year includes…
🛰️ Messium - hyperspectral satellite imagery tracking crop nitrogen status to optimise N timing and application
🔍 PlentySense - real-time soil nitrate monitoring
🍃 Feed The Need - in-season tissue testing to identify and correct nutrient deficiencies
🌱 Elaniti - analysing soil biology to understand what’s happening beneath the surface
🌾 Syngenta Disease Prediction Model - helping predict and manage disease pressure
🧬 Optigene - rapid DNA-based wheat disease identification
Join us at Hundayfield Farm on Wednesday 3rd June to see these innovative trials for yourself!

Our Walworth team have been out on farm recently monitoring crops as they move out of winter and head towards the spring 🌥️
Here are their latest agronomy insights to help you set up your crops for a strong season ahead...
🧪 The team have been carrying out Soil Mineral Nitrogen tests to get an accurate reading of the Soil Nitrogen Supply. This will allow a more accurate first nitrogen application, which is important as crops are well tillered
🌱 Crops are generally quite big across the region, and it is important to consider an early Plant Growth Regulator to promote rooting, tiller retention and reduce the risk of lodging
🍃 Consider carrying out a plant tissue test to assess which micronutrients may be deficient in your crops. Two micronutrients which can sometimes be overlooked are zinc and boron. Zinc is essential for early shoot and root development whilst boron is crucial for cell wall strength and pollen viability
Keep an eye out for more updates from the Walworth team throughout the season ahead of their annual Open Day on Wednesday 24th June! 👀

When your own MP’s and your own select committees are ripping you a new one, maybe its time to wake up and smell the coffee… ☕️ 🤡
Replying to @CatSmithMP
@CatSmithMP and @amcarmichaelMP asking some very direct questions of the PM.
Starmer admits he knows some farmers are considering suicide because of his policy, he knows there are changes that could prevent this, but he is choosing not to change course. Words fail me.
Chance in a Billion? Well @ 300 seeds that would be 1 per 333.3Ha, or 823 acres. Granted it’s a needle in 823 acres, but you’d think you’d see one per Autumn right? So…
This, Ladies & Gents is not a good sign.
Rust like 🔥
For context it’s a Dawsum volunteer which has had a graminicide so will be under a significant amount of stress, but it’s dripping.
A day on the Maize with the Carlisle team 🌽 🚜
Trial site looking excellent, a lot of hard work gone into today - excellent to see the undersown/oversown by a drone grass crop doing its job.
