Sad to hear about the passing of cricketing legend Dickie Bird. I often used to have a cuppa with him at Barnsley Town Hall and I was pleased to be able to do an oral history interview with him about ten years ago. Rest in peace Dickie.

Sorry to hear about the passing of Anne Scargill. She was always very generous with her time, particularly during the lead up to our Women against pit closures exhibition at Experience Barnsley.

Pleased to have completed my 13th North Lincolnshire Half Marathon this morning, preserving my record as the only person who has completed every one. Not particularly fast these days, but pleased to get round.

Eight years ago today we took delivery of the 13th century Barnsley Market Charter from the National Archives, in a huge sealed case. It proved popular with visitors to @BarnsArchives and @EBMuseum during its stay.

TEN years ago we welcomed @horizon_cc students to @BarnsArchives as part of a project to commemorate the 800th anniversary of the Magna Carta. I blinked and a decade passed by!

Do come along ... Thursday 23 January, 6.30pm, Barnsley Town Hall. It's a joint event with @BarnsArchives: The Lancasters, a Barnsley Dynasty. A fascinating history from the archives. @BarnsleyHC1 facebook.com/share/p/19DUofX…

My lovely aunt and godmother Kathleen who we lost yesterday, just eight weeks short of her 96th birthday. A life well lived. I'll miss her love, support and her telling me family stories from the 1930s ❤️

Lovely watercolour Brian. And I'll always be grateful to David Hey for ensuring some real gems came into the archive collections.
Packhorse Bridge, Yorkshire by Katherine Hale (1898-2000). Watercolour and pen. Goldmark Gallery. Reminds me so much of the writings of my great late historian friend, from Penistone, Professor David Hey. @Stebbers @BarnsArchives @BarnsCivicTrust

Thanks Brian. I think I've been contributing articles since about 2011. Not quite as long as you!
