Good riddance. Should’ve been blown up a long time ago.
A fire broke out at the retreat built for Adolf Hitler in the Bavarian Alps known as the Eagle’s Nest, and work to extinguish it was still in progress, police said. A person was detained in connection with the blaze. apnews.com/article/germany-h…
Stop using the R-word as if it has no history. We can do better.
God damn it!

Perhaps the question we should be asking isn't how much a person with Down syndrome can accomplish.
It's how much more they might accomplish if we stopped deciding the answer for them.

My family and I really enjoyed it. I’m very curious about all the negative reviews.
'Digger' may be the lowest opening for a Tom Cruise joint since 2007’s 'Lions for Lambs,' but the mega-star has only mad respect for those who joined him on the Alejandro G. Iñárritu-directed film.
In an Instagram post, Cruise said that “I am so honored to have had the opportunity to create this film alongside such talented artists. Thank you to the entire cast and crew for your dedication, hard work, and joy. The experience was truly unforgettable and I’m so proud of what we created” deadline.com/2026/10/tom-cru…

Advocacy begins when we stop asking people with Down syndrome to fit into the world and start building a world where they belong.
Because a truly inclusive world doesn’t just make room for people with Down syndrome, it recognizes how much they contribute to our communities.

BREAKING: President Trump says he will now give a $5,000 “Trump Dividend” to every US citizen if Republicans win the midterms, rather than just US adults.
On September 9th, President Trump said that only US adults would qualify for the $5,000 payment.
There are ~316 million US citizens, meaning the payments would total ~$1.58 trillion.
That is +$350 billion more than the previous proposal.

What does it mean to truly believe in someone with Down syndrome?
We have spent 16 years thinking about that question as Liam has grown up.
And the older he gets, the more we realize that saying "we believe in him" is the easy part.

Ok! This is on my weekend movie list now. Wow!
One of the very best sets ever in film - the giant typewriter from 1937s "Ready, Willing, and Able".. Lee Dixon and Ruby Keeler - and a bevy of beautiful legs, type out a fantasy letter.. The routine was choreographed by Bobby Connolly (who later choreographed The Wizard of Oz). However, it heavily borrowed from the " Busby Berkeley Style" that dominated Warner Bros. musicals at the time.
It remains one of the most delightful sequences in film, and is a personal favorite of mine!

Never forget.
With great sadness, we received information about the passing of Auschwitz Survivor Julia Wallach, who died at the age of 101.
Julia Wallach, née Kac, was born on 14 June 1925 in Paris as the only daughter of Polish Jewish immigrants. During the German occupation of France in July 1942, her mother Marie was arrested in the Vel’ d’Hiv roundup. Julia never saw her again.
On 24 April 1943, Julia and her father Joseph were arrested after being denounced. They were imprisoned in Drancy. On 23 June 1943, they were deported to Auschwitz in transport no. 55. Julia was 18 years old. In the camp, she was registered as prisoner no. 46645.
Her father did not survive. Julia owed her survival in part to one of her cousins, whom she met there, and who advised her never to miss work, under any circumstances, or she too would go "up the chimney". Julia listened and went to work, even though she was extremely ill with typhus.
In January 1945, she was taken on an evacuation march. During the following months, she was transferred westward, including to Ravensbrück. In April 1945, she managed to escape during a death march and eventually reached American soldiers.
After the war, she recovered the family apartment in Paris, married a fellow survivor, and raised two children. From the 1960s onward, and with growing intensity in recent decades, Wallach spoke regularly in schools and public events about her deportation and life in Auschwitz. In the 2020s her testimony reached wider audiences through films made by her granddaughter, filmmaker Frankie Wallach. In 2022, she was awarded the Légion d’honneur for her educational work.
May her memory be a blessing.

Man, I miss this kind of leadership.
Barack Obama at his last press briefing with reporters, 2017:
"I have enjoyed working with all of you. That does not, of course, mean that I've enjoyed every story that you have filed, but that's the point of this relationship. You're not supposed to be sycophants. You're supposed to be skeptics. You're supposed to ask me tough questions. You're not supposed to be complimentary, but you're supposed to cast a critical eye on folks who hold enormous power."
