My sincere thanks to @HouseForeignGOP for inviting me to address this topic of great policy and personal importance.
“In October of 2023, our family joined the growing circle of American families devastated by fentanyl.”
Listen to @Heritage’s @SteveYates share his personal story of how the fentanyl crisis, fueled by China, ended up costing his own daughter’s life:
IRAN. RUSSIA. THE MIDDLE EAST. YOUR WALLET. YOUR FUTURE.
The headlines are moving fast, but the consequences of today's decisions could last for generations.
From rising costs and the upcoming midterm elections to Iran, Russia, the Houthis, Saudi Arabia, and the Muslim Brotherhood, the stakes couldn't be higher.
The real question isn't just what America wants to do. It's what can America afford to do — and what can we NOT afford to ignore?
On this week's Nation States with Yates, we're cutting through the political noise to examine the global threats, economic realities, and policy decisions that won't just impact Washington — they could impact YOUR home.
Plus, don't miss our powerful two-part fentanyl special, sharing our family's personal tragedy and the lessons that could help save other American families.

Excellent piece by good friend @FredFleitz. Don't fall for the slick invokation of JFK and Catholicism. He was no radical. What's on your 2026 ballot is.

FENTANYL TOOK MY DAUGHTER.
It also left hard lessons every family and every voter should hear before the next crisis.
In this episode of Nation States with Yates (Part 2 of 2), I share what three years of living with that loss taught me:
The difference between prescribed pills and the counterfeit ones killing young people on Snapchat/TikTok
Why Good Samaritan overdose laws save lives but leave no one accountable
The conversations you need before you’re in the ER (advanced directives, Narcan, vital documents, resuscitation)
How grief actually works (GriefShare helped me carry what never fully heals)
Why border control, Chinese precursor chemicals, cartel supply chains, and smarter treatment access are national-security issues—not just public-health ones
This isn’t theory. It’s what my family learned the hard way so yours doesn’t have to.
Listen and share with someone who needs it:

An example of Xi’s use of temporary leverage at the expense of China’s longer-term profitability and economic power. Forcing strategic decoupling over the objections of Western establishment economic and foreign policy elites.
TSMC is now treating China’s rare-earth controls as a threat to the world’s most advanced chip factories.
The company has surveyed suppliers on rare-earth-free motors for its factory-automation equipment, three people familiar with the matter told Reuters. The aim is to reduce the risk that Beijing’s export licences could disrupt production. China put certain rare-earth materials, magnets, and processing technology under controls last year.
Those magnets power the motors that move parts inside highly automated fabs. A shortage would hit smartphone, AI, data-center, and defense supply chains. The discussions are still early. No large-scale switch yet. TSMC has not commented.
The company that makes the chips everyone else depends on is already looking for an exit from Chinese rare earths.

There’s a world of difference between user-authorized agents (Muse, Instinct, Grokbot, etc.) and true unauthorized/rogue agents that could constitute cyberattacks.
Most of the activity described in the Axios story appears to be the former: customers sharing credentials with agents so they can take actions on their behalf. This may violate bank terms requiring humans to log in themselves, but these are in no way cyberattacks.
The direction banks should go is to support user-directed agents. For example, Amex is an authorized connection in Muse, making it easy for users to grant, limit, and revoke access.
Read-only permission levels are a sensible interim step. Several banks already support or are moving toward them. Full write access (with user credentials) is a different risk category and should be approached carefully.
Frightening the public by blurring the line between user-authorized agentic behavior and cyberattacks is irresponsible.
SCOOP: Major U.S. banks are detecting unauthorized third-party AI agents inside customer accounts, including some attempting to take actions that appear to be independent of user instructions, sources told Axios.
The findings have alarmed banking executives, who are racing to restrict access to their systems as AI moves at a velocity faster than financial institutions can respond, multiple industry and bank executives told Axios.
Several banks are now preparing for worst-case and even “day after” scenarios, including how to rapidly secure or restore customer accounts if things go wrong, the people said.
Several bank executives told Axios they're struggling to distinguish between human users and AI agents. One executive said banks also struggle to determine whether agents are authorized by customers or potentially operating without their permission, more akin to rogue agent behavior.

Steve Yates, a China expert with the Heritage Foundation, said the administration deserves immense praise for prioritizing the fentanyl challenge. Tariffs, designating precursors as weapons of mass destruction and controlling the border reduced fentanyl overdose deaths by half, he said.
“But there is very little evidence that the supply manufactured in China and exported to the cartels has gone down anywhere near that amount, or even at all,” Mr. Yates said.
The idea that the Chinese illicit trade in precursors operates outside the knowledge of Beijing government strains credulity, he said.
China is continuing to ship chemical precursors to Mexican drug cartels manufacturing deadly fentanyl despite Beijing promises to halt the flow washingtontimes.com/news/202…
So, the Kissinger Professor of the Practice of Statecraft and World Order at the Harvard Kennedy School is spewing verified revisionist nonsense. Follow @PolarisNatSec for the receipts.
🚨 Oops: Jake Sullivan just denied the Biden Administration withheld aid to Ukraine.
"I have to vehemently push back against the idea there was slow-roll," he says.
But @PolarisNatSec has the receipts: YEARS of delayed weapons decisions, restrictions, and delivery backlogs.
TIMELINE ⬇️
2021
• June 18: Shelved a proposed $100 million contingency arms package due to assurances from Putin.
• December 10: Held back another $200 million aid package amid a diplomatic push with Russia.
2022
• March 9: Rejected Poland's plan to transfer MiG-29s through a U.S. base, citing escalation risks.
• March 10: Ruled out Patriots, saying U.S. troops would be needed to operate them.
• May 31: Finally approved HIMARS after initial resistance—but barred their use on Russian territory.
• June 15: Approved two Harpoon coastal-defense systems after months of Ukrainian requests.
• August: Continued to withhold ATACMS, arguing Ukraine did not need their longer reach.
• September 16: Continued refusing ATACMS—again, citing escalation risks.
• October 10-11: Pledged to expedite already-approved advanced air defenses only after Russian missiles battered Ukrainian cities.
• December 21: Finally approved a Patriot battery—nine months after ruling out sending one.
2023
• January 20-25: Resisted sending Abrams tanks. Despite reversing course on January 31, the first did not arrive until September.
• February 13: Again withheld ATACMS—this time, citing limited U.S. stockpiles.
• February 24: Ruled out F-16s "for now," insisting Ukraine did not need them.
• May 11: Still withheld ATACMS even as Britain announced Storm Shadow cruise missiles for Ukraine.
• May 19: Only reversed course on F-16 training after months of resistance.
• July 7: Finally authorized cluster munitions after months of Ukrainian requests and debate within the administration.
• July 22: Still refused ATACMS despite Ukrainian pleas and mounting congressional pressure.
• September 22: Limited shorter-range variants of ATACMS approved after more than a year of requests—longer-range versions remained withheld.
2024
• March 12: Approved an aid package containing longer-range ATACMS—but still barred their use inside Russia.
• May 30: Finally permitted limited cross-border strikes near Kharkiv, while retaining the ban on long-range ATACMS strikes inside Russia.
• November 17: Finally allowed long-range ATACMS strikes inside Russia—nearly three years into the invasion.
• December: Delivery backlogs persisted after April's funding approval. Only about 30% of promised U.S. armored vehicles reportedly arrived.

This man stood by and let the Chinese do pretty much whatever they wanted. If he is never allowed near the halls of power ever again it will be too soon. He floated giving back Taiwan to China to obtain peace in our time and was clueless October 7. Awful track record
This is where several of us said in early 2025 this would likely land. Stop the killing. Security assurances + redevelopment. Disposition of land a disappointment to both sides.
NEW: Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy tells @kilmeade he would accept a peace deal that freezes the war along the current frontlines, calling it a realistic way to stop the fighting.
He says Ukraine would then seek security guarantees from President Trump and European allies to ensure peace and security.
"We call it ceasefire or stop killing like President Trump called it. Freeze and stop. And of course this is minimum what we need from Russia today." | @foxandfriends
A father’s worst phone call came on October 18, 2023.
My daughter Christina overdosed on a counterfeit Xanax laced with fentanyl. What followed were 12 days from the trauma center to the ICU to hospice — and her final breath on October 30.
This is our story. Not a statistic. Not a talking point. A family.

HOT OFF THE PRESSES. CHAOS INC. is growing. Who is behind the protests in France and Europe?
I was just on @FoxBusiness to talk to the amazing @dagenmcdowell about the findings of my new reporting at @FoxNews Digital:
🔴🟢 101 organizations in the "red-green" alliance across 9 counties are fomenting and amplifying the protests in France and Europe (up from 54 orgs yesterday)
🔴🟢 Only 1 in 3 student or youth; the rest are adults
🔴🟢 They plan “Acte II” on Saturday OCTOBER 24 with protests across France
🔴🟢 The protests are being amplified by the network in the US funded by Neville Roy Singham, the American communist tycoon living in Shanghai supporting the Chinese Communist Party.

Expect more names. I like this model: moving names from my database to your consciousness. The US, India, the UK. Where do you wonder about?
54 organizations. Only 16 are student or youth groups. So who's really driving the unrest in France?
A Fox News Digital investigation identifies a sprawling network of communist organizations, socialist political movements, labor unions and international activists helping organize, support and amplify protests that began over school conditions.
The demonstrations have grown into a nationwide confrontation, with riots, looting and attacks on public buildings. Now, an international coalition is mobilizing young people for another wave of protests across Europe.
And the connections extend well beyond France. See who's involved and how the network operates: foxnews.com/world/whos-who-i…
