I graduated into a bad job mkt in 1992, but I got a great job on Wall St. My parents’ neighbor asked how I was. Told her I was working at Nomura Securities. She said, “that’s ok, things will get better.” This puzzled me. Later I found out she asked my mom if I had to carry a gun.

Investing jargon sucks for most people.
Two investing terms I have never liked: growth & value.
What’s the average person supposed to get out of them?
Spoiler alert: nothing helpful

Had a call with a prospective client last week. They asked me two questions:
1) why did your last client contact you?
2) why did your last client leave?

Something about me: if I ever see a video posted that says, “wait for it…” I will never wait for it.

I’m critical of financial services & financial advisors. In fact, my opinion of them & the way many treat their clients prevented me from becoming an advisor for a decade. What do I know?
There has never been a better time to be a financial advisor, or a client. 1/10

PSA: if ever you find yourself on a, “financial,” website, and you can’t figure out exactly what they’re selling, or even what it costs, but somehow it sounds good… It’s insurance. They’re selling insurance. – at Sandy Springs, GA

As a financial advisor or DIY investor, this may be the most important minute you spend today. Jonathan Kirshner & @kofinas lay out the difference between risk & uncertainty on @HiddenForcesPod Perhaps the most impactful thing I tell clients is, I don’t know, and we can’t know.

I never thought I’d say it, but I love being a financial advisor. I still don’t love telling people I’m an advisor, but that’s another subject.
But when I see all the bad takes about advisors, and by, “advisors,” in the world, it makes me want to pull the covers over my head. – at Sandy Springs, GA

I’ve seen something more beautiful than this. It’s called a total return chart. :-)

I’m going to burst some bubbles here. As a financial advisor, I do often give people target savings amounts so that they can hit future goals, goals that we often spend a lot of time talking through. And it’s time well spent. But… 1/3 🧵
A lot of 2026 is really challenging. But I'm also sitting here listening to one of the most underrated 80's albums (Zebra's, "3.V') while using AI to create instructional videos for my @VerbatimFi clients, mixing my own music into it, all on my desktop supercomputer.
Some Zebra for you. (Someone please find the OG tapes & post them in better resolution.)

Sitting in the PT office while the boy works on his back. I overheard him say to the therapist that it isn’t getting better. He’s already missed basically all of his middle school soccer season. I know how much it upsets him, and it’s breaking my heart. #parentingishard
