Except for Indigenous people, every Canadian family story starts with someone who showed up, worked, and stayed. Your great-grandparents from Scotland, Ireland, England, or Ukraine did exactly what recent immigrants are doing now. The difference is they arrived when the population was smaller and the rules were looser for people who looked like them.
