ALT A film still from The Last of the Sea Women. Four women, all wearing diving gear, are seated on the bench of a boat. They're all middle-aged or older, wearing black wetsuits with orange on the chest, and have pulled their face screens up onto their foreheads. Behind them is a dark blue body of water and some mountains.
In all of the excitement of last week, I forgot to tweet this - I'm absolutely THRILLED that I get to partner with @A24 @Malala @AppleTVPlus to tell the story of my lifelong heroes, the incredible haenyeo of Jejudo. Still pinching myself ✨

Pearly Young, 77, was killed today in #Buffalo shopping for groceries.
For 25 years she ran a pantry where every Saturday she fed people in Central Park. Every. Saturday.
She loved singing, dancing, & being with family.
She was mother, grandma, & missionary. Gone too soon 🕊

One of Roger Ebert’s finest moments was at Better Luck Tomorrow’s Sundance screening when a white critic accused Justin Lin of putting Asian Americans in a negative light & he got up & responded to it

If you don't know why this multiple-blocks-long line to get pepper spray exists, you're not paying attention. This is gut-wrenching.
Chinatown, NYC. Look at the long, long line of mostly Asian women and elderly waiting to get their pepper spray. This is the clearest sign people are living in fear 😔💔 #StopAsianHate
If I worship at the altar of anything, it's the altar of Andrea Arnold. I can't WAIT to see what she does in the documentary space
Replying to @IndieWire
Andrea Arnold has won the Cannes Jury Prize three times, and she could be back in 2021 with her documentary "Cow." Lucrecia Martel also has a new non-fiction film titled "Chocobar" that could debut at the festival: bit.ly/3vWknBK
