In old folk magic, caraway seeds were used as charms of retention. Objects containing them could never be stolen, and any thief who tried would be held fast in the house. Caraway was also believed to keep lovers faithful and pigeons from deserting their dovecotes. #FolkloreSunday

At Samhain past, present, and future are one, and beings of The Otherworld walk amongst the living. It is a time of faerie folk, demons and spirits of the ancestors. Saturday is Halloween and the oncoming Winter is the 'season of the ghosts' art: Alan Lee #FolkloreSunday

VINTAGE HALLOWEEN FAIRIES reminding us that fairies and goblins were once as likely to be found on #Halloween cards as vampires and witches!! At a time when the veil between our world & the shadow world is extremely thin there are likely to be encounters between humans & fairies #FolkloreSunday

Dracula never speaks these lines in the 1897 novel but there is throwaway moment In the book where he says 'I too can love'. Until this film we had never seen Dracula as a love beyond the grave story but its #loveneverdies theme has endured.
"He cruzado océanos de tiempo para encontrarte. No me importa el cielo ni la salvación: tú eres mi vida, mi amor y mi eternidad."

#FolkloreSunday The Halloween holiday has its roots in Samhain, a pagan religious celebration to welcome the harvest at the end of summer, when people would wear costumes to ward off ghosts. Pope Gregory III designated November 1 as a time to honor saints.blogs.loc.gov/headlinesandhe…

In some rural areas of the UK Hallows Eve is known as Nut Crack Night. Girls would toss 3 nuts into the fire to divine their romantic fate If the nuts burned quietly a happy marriage was foretold. If they exploded and flew from the flames... the portents were bad. #FolkloreSunday
