In 2024, two Essex Senior League clubs walked out at Wembley for the fiftieth FA Vase final. Romford won it.
Three of the Great Wakering side from that day now play for Heybridge Swifts.
This season's first round brought Hoddesdon Town, winners of the very first Vase in 1975, to Heybridge.
Seven ESL clubs played in the first round. Four went through, and Benfleet join them in round two after last season's run.
Every club in the Vase has the same shot at Wembley.
This is, the opportunity.

In light of the recent Farage expose involving undercover journalists posing as potential foreign donors, a video of Reform’s London mayoral candidate Laila Cunningham is now doing the rounds.
In the footage, she appears to be approached with an envelope of cash from someone presented as a Russian donor — and seems interested in taking it before her party handler tells her not to.
If Reform wants to be taken seriously on political donations, these are questions they need to answer. 👀
