The Dreamworld CEO just said international visitation is still 40% below the pre-COVID levels and Chinese visitation to the Gold Coast is 70% below pre-COVID peak. Wow. At least the Kiwis are pouring in after a NZ Warriors promotion ahead of Titans game.

One more sleep until my Snowy 2.0 court case, which might ultimately prevent officials entering into confidentiality agreements that prevent taxpayers accessing performance info about publicly funded projects. It’s an open court - transparency die-hards are welcome. #FOI #auspol
The Govt enters into $100B worth of contracts each year, all with confidentiality terms that prevent citizens from knowing if the contractor is performing well. If I win in the Full Federal Court next week, that’ll all change. #transparency #Snowy #auspol michaelwest.com.au/snowy-blo…

For those that haven’t read the Guardian article of yesterday, the Administrative Review Tribunal has rejected the Govt’s application to ban media & the public from the “open” hearing. The 2004 Timor spying operation just got a little less secret. See you on 25, 26 and 27 Nov in Canberra. #auspol

Halloween isn't American. 🎃
Not the name. 🏴
Not the costumes. 🎭
Not the lantern. 🕯️
Not even "trick or treat". 🚪
The word was so Scottish that Robert Burns had to add a footnote for the English explaining what it was. 📜
The first lanterns weren't pumpkins. 👀
The first time "trick or treat" appeared in print, it wasn't in America. 📰
Every year someone calls Halloween an American import. 🙄
They never tell you the knock on your door is OLDER than America itself. 🇺🇸
So this Halloween, skip the trick. 👻
Be the treat. 🍬

Last week our Price of Survival report showed:
More people are struggling to afford the basics - more people with jobs (38%) - and mortgage stress was the top presenting issue (23%), with credit cards (19%), personal loans (15%) and BNPL (8%) being used to cover the gap.

"NOTED". Anthony "don't-tell-me-what-to-do" Albanese will be remembered as the man who refused to allow human oversight to be restored to aged care assessments despite being told the algorithm does not meet the standards set by the Royal Commission into the Robodebt Scheme by the highest ombudsman in Australia. #auspol #robodebt2

This was just posted over on Facebook by @GeorgeTakei . #AdAstra Walter - and Pavel 🖖
My heart is heavy. Walter Koenig, our Ensign Pavel Chekov, passed away early today. Walter and I met on the bridge of the Enterprise in the 1960s, and we stayed friends for nearly six decades. When Brad and I married in 2008, Walter stood beside us as our best man. Just last month, on Sept. 14, he turned 90, on the same day Brad and I celebrated our 18th wedding anniversary. I will always treasure that he and I shared that date.
Walter was more than Chekov. He was a writer, a teacher, a thoughtful man, and a loyal friend. To the fans who loved him for so many years, thank you. He loved you too. Rest well, my dear friend. Keep navigating a steady course.

Two years ago, Biden said gallows were constructed on January 6th, 2021 to hang Mike Pence. I asked FBI Director Wray whether he’d arrested anyone in conjunction with those gallows, and whether, as I suspect, provocateurs were involved in building them.
