Wow! Tesla has asked the Australian Senate to allow self-driving trials on our roads from 2027!!
In their submission to the Senate inquiry, date 16th Oct, on productivity, they've also shared FSD (Supervised) numbers for Aus and NZ since it launched in Sept 2025:
160 million km driven with it on
40% fewer collisions vs Teslas without it
90% fewer harsh braking events
They're also pushing to bring the national AV safety law forward from 2029 to 2027, which they reckon could save hundreds of lives and unlock $10B+ in benefits.
As someone who uses FSD most days, this doesn't surprise me at all! The tech is ready to be trialed out.. now it's up to Canberra.
Fingers crossed!!

FSD and the whole Tesla experience is a game changer!!
We recently returned from a family road trip over the school holidays. Sydney to Albury, Melb, Phillip Island, Ballarat, Canberra and back. 2,536km, and about 95% of it was on FSD!
I was quite nervous about driving in Melb CBD with the tram lines and hook turns.. but no issues at all, FSD handled it perfectly. Longest intervention free stretch was 421km, something I didn't even aim for, it just happened!
We felt so relaxed after every long drive, and could actually have proper conversations along the way. FSD also passed the wife test on the highway.. she was on it for a 2.5hr stretch!
Is it perfect? Not yet, but it's 98% there. Speed signs and holding the speed limit still need work. Pot hole avoidance would be nice in a future release too (which I believe is in the works).. there's a stretch between Melb and Phillip Island I had to drive manually because of the sheer number of potholes!
Superchargers all the way and the ease and convenience is unmatched. Total charging cost was $155.29 for the whole trip, and all of it was covered by referral credits!
Grok was amazing too, great for asking about towns along the way and doing a bit of research. Can't wait for the Grok Bot integration to arrive over the next few updates.
The back screen is another game changer for the kids.. shows, movies, games, all sorted. Would be great if Tesla and Apple could work something out to bring Apple TV in soon.
Overall an extremely well built package! Huge kudos to the FSD and Supercharger teams @TeslaAUNZ @TeslaSI. Looking forward to planning the next road trip!

Really saddened by what’s happening in France right now. Ten years ago we spent a year travelling around Europe, and France always held a special place in our hearts.
From the magic of Paris, through the Loire Valley - Chambord and Villandry... down to Bordeaux and quiet Eugénie-les-Bains. The beauty of Provence with Avignon and little Gordes and along the coast to Nice.
The beauty, architecture, the history, the food, the warm people and the slower way of life stay with us vividly.
Hope the spirit we felt there is still somewhere underneath it all and hoping for calmer days ahead. Wishing it well.
