When filming on and/or under the water, determining the size of the boat required is imperative to accommodate the number of participants, crew, equipment, sleeping berths, and other critical production requirements. You never want to hear the infamous line from "Jaws" about needing a bigger boat. In this production, the 187-foot research vessel, the RV Nancy Foster-originally commissioned as a US Navy yard test torpedo boat and later transferred to NOAA and converted to a research vessel- was perfect. It was the best option to carry the scientific team, divers, underwater film crew, and others for the collaborative underwater exploration. Marine, wildlife, and underwater documentaries have been among my favorites, and this one was no exception.
