Your PIN authorizes the card. The printed backup key handles recovery. Two different secrets. Treat them that way.

No seed words here. Recovery uses an encrypted backup file plus the separate key printed on the card. Keep them apart.

I'm legitimately going to just keep using my Coldcard at this point. And that's as much of an indictment of literally everything else as much as it is a statement about the Coldcard. Everything else in this space is such a shitshow.
