Topics: exercise & ischemic stroke in mice, Baduanjin in breast cancer, aerobic exercise before chemotherapy, immersion therapy for people with disability, clinical exercise professionals and nutrition in cardiac rehabilitation.
🇦🇺🇦🇺🇦🇺 Dr. Brett Tarca & Dr. Brett Tarca's team from University of South Australia conducted this pilot mixed-methods study, aiming to assess the feasibility and acceptability of active video gaming combined with pacing to increase physical activity in adults with myalgic encephalomyelitis/chronic fatigue syndrome.
👦👩15 participants were randomised to six months of pacing alone, pacing with conventional physical activity, or pacing with active video gaming. Feasibility and acceptability were evaluated through semi-structured interviews, with health outcomes measured at baseline, six, and twelve months.
📝📝📝 Key Takeaways
✅Positivity enabled acceptability,
✅ Flexibility supported autonomy,
✅ Participants gained self-knowledge.
✅ Adverse events were low, and while the active video gaming intervention was acceptable,
❎ Feasibility was limited by poor recruitment and adherence.
📝📝physicalTranslational significance
Findings suggest that physical activity can be safely self-managed by some individuals with ME/CFS using a symptom-contingent pacing approach. Future interventions should balance support with scalability and reduce participant burden.

🇨🇳🇨🇳🇨🇳Dr. Bagen Liao's team from Guangzhou Sport University conducted this randomized controlled trial, aiming to evaluate the effects of a 12-week wearable-sensor-assisted multicomponent exercise program on physical fitness, cognition, and quality of life in frail older adults.
👩🦳👩🦳👨🦳👨🦳130 participants were randomly assigned to an exercise group or a control group receiving routine care. The intervention included stride gait training with wearable sensors, aerobic, resistance, flexibility, balance, and cognitive training. Outcomes were assessed using the SPPB, SFT, MoCA-BC, SF-36, and Fried frailty criteria.
📝📝📝Key Takeaways
✅Significant improvements in the exercise group across all physical fitness measures,
✅cognitive domains, such as total MoCA-BC, delayed recall, verbal fluency,
✅quality of life domains, such as physical function, general health, vitality, mental health,
✅frailty status compared to controls.
👉👉👉Translational significance
This wearable-sensor-assisted multicomponent exercise program demonstrates potential as a feasible community-based intervention to enhance intrinsic capacity and slow frailty progression in older adults.

🇨🇳🇨🇳🇨🇳Dr. Ran Wei from Guangzhou Sport University aimed to examine communication effectiveness and its relationship with participant satisfaction in a multicultural fitness program setting, published in Translational Exercise Biomedicine, an official partner journal of FMIS.
👨🦰👩95 participants from a Functional 45 Fitness Training site in the Midwest U.S. completed the Fitness Communication Effectiveness Evaluation Scale, which assessed communication effectiveness (anxiety, uncertainty, reaction to strangers, mindfulness) and customer satisfaction (facilities/services, individual/psychological, relaxation, social, health/fitness).
📝📝📝Key Takeways
✅Nationality and language significantly influenced both communication effectiveness and satisfaction, with domestic and first-language English participants reporting higher scores on reaction to strangers, uncertainty management, and all satisfaction domains.
✅Gender and membership type also affected satisfaction.
👉👉👉Translational significance
The findings highlight the importance of managing participants' uncertainty and reactions to strangers to enhance communication effectiveness and satisfaction in culturally diverse fitness environments. Fitness managers should adopt culturally sensitive communication strategies to better serve diverse clientele.
