BIRDMAN FEAT. CLIPSE — “WHAT HAPPENED TO THAT BOY” (2002) What Happened to That Boy became part of a much bigger story than anyone could’ve imagined. Rumors of The Neptunes being underpaid reportedly contributed to the tension between Pharrell’s camp and Cash Money, and by 2006, Clipse’s “Mr. Me Too” was widely interpreted as a shot at Lil Wayne, who was catching heat for allegedly copying their fashion and style. Wayne fired back in interviews, dismissing Clipse and questioning Pharrell’s influence, while Pusha accused Wayne of biting styles. In 2012, Pusha’s “Exodus 23:1” reignited everything, prompting Wayne to tweet against Pusha and release “Goulish,” while Drake jumped in with shots of his own. Years later, Pusha and Drake’s feud escalated through “Infrared,” Drake’s “Duppy Freestyle,” and Pusha’s devastating “The Story of Adidon.” Then in 2024, Kendrick Lamar defended Pharrell on “Euphoria,” bringing those old tensions back into the spotlight. What started around one collaboration grew into a decades-long divide involving Cash Money, Young Money, Clipse, G.O.O.D. Music, and some of hip-hop’s biggest names with consequences still felt today
