An important part of our activities is the practical education of students in satellite operations, including the planning and evaluation of their own experiments. One of the training experiments was to capture this #imagesfromspace of the Hawaiian Islands and Earth's horizon.

Correction: The three signals at the predicted center frequency were actually a tuning glitch caused by the uplink TNC. But at the @TUBspace primary RX station we've actually seen the signal. 😅 First beacon seems to be received by @SatNOGS in Australia: network.satnogs.org/observat…

#OTD in 1998, a Russian nuclear submarine launched Tubsat-N & N1, a pair of German research and communication nanosatellites on a ballistic missile. This was the first satellite launch from a submarine. The satellite was developed by the Technical University of Berlin (TUB).
