Looks like this will be another #txwater discussion in the upcoming #txlege session. When you have private entities owning or managing infrastructure water or other, they are doing so to make a profit. They are also obliged to reinvest in their infrastructure which many times has been neglected for decades and those costs are spread out across their portfolio. Feel how you want to but in my view many systems have clearly undervalued and underinvested in their water infrastructure for decades, part of that is been due to a lack of state and federal funds and part has been a reluctance or lack of political will to do the right thing which should have included increasing rates, proper asset management etc. I am certain that the @TX_WIN Texas Water Capital Needs survey presently underway will provide some valuable insights for policymakers. click2houston.com/news/local…

Replying to @Bill_McKenzie
@Bill_McKenzie a well deserved hat tip to @electcharles. Failing to prioritize investment in Texas water threatens our state’s future viability. Chairman Perry is right - securing that future requires investment, planning and political will. But the situation in Corpus Christi has been a faliure of political will predicated on dysfunction and poor decision making nothing more. Plans and funding options accomplish little when leaders fail to follow through. Texas needs long range planning and the resolve to turn those plans into reliable water supplies. Pandering delaying decisions constraining and/or squandering public resources will only compound the problem. Serious water policy should be judged by results. Plans don’t deliver water - completed projects do. #txwater #txlege
