OSX should really be able to check if it can close an app before it tries to close them all for an update. I hate waking up to everything closed except for my one terminal with a dev server running.

Amazing few days for blocking dozens of American idiots.

How can I make it so X isn't an app purely to argue about AC? It's so boring. Every post is about it.

Your sister, 17-year-old Carol, calls you. She had been walking along a piece of land between two lakes when she spotted a brown bear ahead. When she turned around, she saw a random man walking the same direction as her. Which direction would you tell her to go?

Finished Salem's Lot this afternoon. <Sort of spoilers> Ultimately, I feel a bit underwhelmed. The main character shone in the early build up but his behaviour and actions become a bit automatic once the story kicks off. Great audiobook narrator, though.

An interesting thing about the red and blue vote is that mothers and fathers of babies, if given time to plan, should split their vote so at least one survives to take care of the babies if they survive. Mothers voting red and fathers voting blue would be most common.

The whole red vs. blue thing is pretty funny considering we just went through Covid. Imagine believing over 50% of people will vote blue to save everyone else when they couldn't even wear a mask to protect others.

Remarkable how a bastardised version of the prisoner's dilemma has taken over X today, as if offering prisoners freedom OR freedom if everyone else votes to not have it, is some valid interesting choice.

Wild how in the space of two years, the entire right-wing "America is getting invaded by illegals" thing has turned into "Europe is letting itself be invaded by illegals" just so the hate can be turned towards Europe. Right-wing Americans now think the US doesn't have a problem.

Shocking absolutely no one, the people who think Iran shouldn't be allowed to control the strait support America controlling the strait.

I only had to ban six fuckwits and all of the pro-Trump anti-EU stuff about Greenland disappeared from my feed.

Should we design UI around what it looks like in Darkreader? I have it switched on by default and a lot of websites don't look so hot with it.

The idea of a "minimum viable product" is why 99.999% of sole devs fail. You will only ever have a handful of good ideas in your life. Focus on the good ones.

A very simple question to those who think the US can outlast China in this trade war: Which country do you think could become self-reliant first?

Why has Twitter been taken over by everyone asking Grok or Perplexity whether or not a very simple to understand tweet is true? Even the simplest things seem to require some people to refer to an AI. Where is the critical thinking?

When trying to empower women and minorities could also pass as a deliberate attempt at hiding their history of being discriminated against.

There it is. The worst take possible regarding the UK-Australia deal.

Don't be daft, we already import 35% of our beef! If there are going to be losers it will be those other exporters (the EU) into the UK.
