Due to high winds our transfer stations at Inglewood, Waitara and Okato are closed for the rest of today.
Please don't travel unnecessarily and avoid rivers, the coastline and floodwaters. Have a get ready kit handy with a few emergency supplies if the power goes out. Take care, hunker down, and brace for this storm to pass.
Severe weather is causing surface flooding, tree and road damage and power outages. @MetService’s Orange heavy rain and strong wind warning stands until 3pm today, expected to worsen through midday.
We've localised surface flooding in Ōkato and parts of South Taranaki. Our local councils have been notified. Please only travel if necessary and avoid driving through flood waters as there could be debris or the road could have moved underneath.
We have road closures, surface flooding, slips and wastewater overflows in South Taranaki after heavy rain across the district. Extreme care is needed. Tropical Cyclone Dovi is expected to bring strong winds starting tomorrow. For more see southtaranaki.com/our-counci…
Weather monitoring continues as @MetService has issued Orange warnings for Taranaki this weekend, both heavy rain and strong wind. Be prepared, have a plan, and be ready to act quickly.
