To celebrate #BiodiversityMonth, #Tasmania's s. councils are going head-to-head in a 2 week Biodiversity Blitz, running on iNaturalist from now until 30/09. We would love to see our southern community get involved in a bit of friendly competition! Find out more at inaturalist.org/projects/bio…

Thank you to the more than 200 people who completed our final #WildTracker & #LandforWildlife survey as part of an ongoing research project with @UTAS_ & @jcu. #Congratulations to Alison from Bellerive, who was the lucky winner of our camera trap prize draw.
We're looking forward to seeing what wildlife visits Alison's place (& to start digging into the survey results!).
Our 2026 #Conservation #Science Symposium has sadly been and gone, but for those who could not attend, the recording from our first session is now available to watch online at youtu.be/vRJZMDonrMM?si=rWXT…

Our evenings are considerably less dark here in #Tasmania, which means our #Spring newsletter has blossomed & is ready to read!
In this issue, we have stories about surprising plant diversity in a regenerating forest, protecting important habitat for the giant freshwater crayfish, and we also look at what common wildlife can tell us about change.

Nature Glenelg Trust has been busy over the past yr planning for the restoration of the natural #hydrological regimes across Silver Plains Reserves. A small-scale trial of #restoration methods is currently underway. Read the update: natureglenelg.org.au/trial-r…
This is being undertaken as part of the broader Building Ecosystem Resilience: A Tasmanian Model for Renewal at Silver Plains project, funded by The Ian Potter Foundation and delivered by TLC in partnership with NGT, @utas.edu.au, Federation University and NSW DPIRD.
We’d love you to join us for a special forum for #landholders caring for nature on private land. 'Our Natural Legacy Landholder Forum' runs from 8:30am on Tuesday 6 October in Hobart. Tickets & more info at alca26.eventify.io/t2/ticket…
The forum is hosted by the Australian Land Conservation Alliance (ALCA) and the TLC, with support from @bankaust.bsky.social. It forms part of ALCA’s annual conference, which brings together people working in private land conservation from around #Australia.
Recently, TLC visited the latest recruits to join our #LandforWildlife program. Wren, her partner Dave & brother Laurie's property at Lune River contains outstanding button #grassplains, with stands of ancient #stringybarks all providing shelter for ground #parrots, #swiftparrots & #bluewingedparrots. We thank them for their dedication to conservation over many years and look forward to working with them as part of the Land for Wildlife program.
In late August we hosted TLC’s fourth #Conservation #Science Symposium. It was a fantastic afternoon of intriguing #research, centred on & around TLC reserves & #LandforWildlife properties.
Thanks to everyone who attended, @UTAS_ for hosting us, all of our fantastic speakers, & all of the staff & supporters who came together to make this annual highlight of the TLC calendar possible.
TLC's Skullbone Plains, part of our Five Rivers Reserve, was the perfect location to host the #Tasmania SES Search & Rescue South Team's #winter training. With its challenging weather & broad range of #environments, the team were able to test their skills in a range of scenarios.
This Sept, Chauncy Vale Wildlife Sanctuary, which borders our Flat Rock Reserve, will be turning 80! To mark this milestone, we will be joining the #community for an afternoon of #celebrations. 12/09/26 from 1:00 pm, more info trybooking.com/dmemq
To mark the occasion, we had the privilege of welcoming #wilderness #photographer Rob Blakers, to our Flat Rock Reserve. Rob has been documenting its extraordinary natural values throughout Winter, accessing much of the Reserve by foot.
Anna has been at our Piano Coves Reserve to see how the #vegetation is recovering as #spring approaches after enduring a #bushfire in 2025. The xanthorrhoeas' #flowering spikes are quite the sight to behold! There is also the flamboyant 'showy bossiaea', the squiggly 'tassel rope-rush', & young 'waxlip orchid' buds all preparing to put on a grand spectacle this spring.
Glen didn't expect to find a story so relevant to #WildTracker hidden behind a rusting fridge & a tangle of cobwebs when he moved house last yr. Among a collage of yellowing newspapers was an article from The Sunday #Tasmanian, ‘Out of mind, & out of existence’. Story at tasland.org.au/blog/wt_oom
