If you’re a 25 year old woman on a plane and the man next to you starts masturbating and the flight crew won’t deal with it properly, find a Gen X woman seated nearby.
We have been preparing for this moment since 1999 and we would be delighted to handle the situation.
@united should be embarrassed
We have officially reached the point in my teaching career where I need to explain to law students what “stop payment on a check” means and how one does it.
The generational divide is no longer just skinny jeans or side parts.

Who knew?
Answer: Everyone. Including advocates of the state policies.

Re-upping this. Again.
You run some risks accusing people of using AI.

The internet has a content theft economy.
In 2022, I posted the tweet on the left. It went viral—more than 22M views across platforms. The post on the right is someone else using my photo and caption with their account added at the top.
This has been happening for years now.
Why? Because there is an entire social-media ecosystem where originality is optional and leveraging someone else’s account is the growth strategy.
At this point, I assume Bloomberg has me on speed dial under “tax professor willing to say something borderline snarky about Jeffrey Epstein.”
And I remain delighted to serve.
The underlying story really is astonishing: Billionaire Leon Black paid Epstein $158 million for tax and estate-planning work, despite Epstein not being a tax lawyer or accountant.

By the way, law review editors, this letter is addressed to you.

Turns out ‘abolish the income tax’ polls a lot better than ‘cut billions from the budget or tell me which taxes you’re raising instead.’
Almost no one needs an offshore trust and they rarely do anything that cannot be accomplished less expensively with a domestic trust.
Keep that in mind before you call the guy who claims to own the largest offshore trust law firm in the U.S. but who really only has 2.5 lawyers working for him part time.
The Venn diagram between people posting daily to bash Fauci and people convinced a national sales tax is brilliant feels suspiciously close to a circle.
Other than the Washington bar exam fiasco, the worst bar exam story I’ve ever heard is the poor soul who threw up on the person sitting next to them during the July exam.
The plot twist? Both of them had to leave. They were both rescheduled to take the February exam.
One lost the contents of their stomach. The other had the misfortune of sitting in the splash zone and lost six months of his life.
My heart goes out to everyone who tried to take the Washington bar exam.
You spend years in law school, months preparing, thousands of dollars on courses, and countless hours putting your life on hold for a single exam. To have that process disrupted or thrown into uncertainty after all of that is genuinely heartbreaking.
No matter how this ultimately gets resolved, these examinees deserved better.
The Trump administration is now referring to frozen embryos as children, and no one is talking about the fact that this makes liquid nitrogen their legal guardian.
Somewhere a tank of liquid nitrogen is thinking about the Child Tax Credit.
Nothing ages you like walking into an art show and seeing VHS tapes upcycled into artwork labeled “vintage reclaimed materials.”
There used to be a website called Draw Your Professor where you submitted a professor rating through art.
We need to bring that back.
I was interviewed by Reveal for their new podcast: “Inside America’s Race to Hide the World’s Money.”
It’s about how the U.S. quietly became one of the best places in the world to park wealth. Out of reach and out of sight.
If you care about money, power, and the legal structures that protect both, it’s worth a listen.
Forget Switzerland: The US is now the No. 1 place to hide your money.
We investigate how some US states are locked in a race to become the world’s biggest tax haven. This week on Reveal. revealnews.org/podcast/us-ta…
South Dakota follows equitable distribution, not a clean 50/50 split. That means a judge divides property based on what they think is fair, not necessarily equal.
Interestingly, fault can creep in to divorce proceedings in SD and the courts can consider marital misconduct when dividing assets.
I am not suggesting that any recent leak was intentional, but sometimes a leak is about leverage in preparation of a filing.
