Fascinating keynote from ex-Marketing Director at Netflix @danirayner on fuelling fandom in our schools: - Design a moment worth remembering. - Turn students into storytellers. - Build something people can belong to. @ubiqeducation #UbiqX

Our fantastic librarian Ms Mowatt is running a December non-fiction Advent calendar where we can be the first to borrow a brand-new library book 📚⛄️ I was delighted to be drawn today; I got “The Ultimate Guide to Adaptive Teaching” by @Sue_Cowley !

What is the effect of giving children smartphones before the age of 13? It's bad. Strongly associated with poorer mental health and wellbeing. BUT the evidence is largely correlational. What does this mean? 🧵⬇️

This is a huge amount of data showing very strong correlational links between early smartphone exposure and poor mental health and wellbeing. It’s getting harder to ignore the urgency of serious preemptive action to be taken to protect children from a danger that we buy for them as a present.

Loved the reminder that routines build confidence, mini whiteboards need clear expectations, and error analysis drives reasoning. The “we do” phase is where the magic happens. And vocab in maths deserves the same care as in English. Fab, @learnwithmrlee!
So excited for this Episode on Mathematics Teaching to land! It's coming at 6AM Melbourne time! open.substack.com/pub/chalkd…

A parent sent me news about how schools in Estonia are progressively using #AI. This, combined with my team's continued work on AI Policy at St. John's International School and my own teaching experience, sparked this @edutopia article; feedback welcome! edutopia.org/article/avoidin…
