New York City’s disastrous sanctuary city policies have exacerbated the migrant crisis and emboldened some to commit violent crimes.
@NYCMayor agrees. He must act.
At yesterday’s budget hearing in Albany, I pushed him to commit to overriding this ridiculous law. He refused.

In recent weeks, @ICEgov has detained criminal illegal immigrants convicted of murder, rape, child sexual abuse & other violent crimes. Even after New Yorkers were murdered, @GovKathyHochul and @NYCMayor continue doubling down on sanctuary policies.
UPDATE
PROJECT POSTPONED until after Labor Day
After hearing the concerns from our community the @NYSDOT has announced that the Korean War Vererans Parkway project has been delayed to after Labor Day
Enough is enough — it’s time for accountability. Last year, my bill to fix New York’s #RaiseTheAge law — which currently lets 16- and 17-year-olds caught with loaded firearms avoid meaningful consequences by going to Family Court —
was blocked by Albany Democrats. This loophole is driving a rise in teen gun possession and putting our communities at risk.
I’m continuing to fight for common-sense reforms that ensure these young offenders face real consequences and that our families and neighborhoods are protected.
Watch the discussion when the Albany Majority stopped the legislation from moving (starts at 3:40 minute mark) ⬇️

I appreciate @GovKathyHochul’s decision to veto the Keep Police Radio Public Act, recognizing the need to balance transparency with public safety and officer safety.
As a former #NYPD Lieutenant and current public official, I understand the importance of public access to accurate information — but I also understand how that access can be abused or misused, jeopardizing public safety and possibly even human life in the process.
With law enforcement agencies in New York and beyond moving to encrypt their radio frequencies for security purposes, some politicians in Albany are advocating to allow non-emergency personnel, like journalists, to access those communications still.
I recently debated A3516, which would require law enforcement to allow some journalists to access those frequencies. It is law enforcement and other first responders whose monitoring of those frequencies must be treated as a priority.
Though I voted NO on this bill, I urge @GovKathyHochul to amend it and include a 10 minute delay so that we can sustain public access while prioritizing public safety.

Regarding the Keep Police Radio Public Act 2025 @GovKathyHochul consider a veto or an amendment to require a 10 minute delayed public transmission.

It was great to join @NY1 in the Tottenville section of my district to discuss the upcoming mayoral election and the issues affecting #StatenIsland, including our local congestion crisis, public safety, and the rising cost of living.

Congratulations to the incredible staff and students at PS/IS89, the Janice Blanchard School, in Travis on their ribbon cutting today!

#ICYMI I’ve introduced the Toll Payer Advocacy and Relief Act, A9070 (bit.ly/4gdxFlq), to cap toll violations at 10% of the toll cost, enhance toll payer advocacy services at the @PANYNJ and @MTA, and put an end to toll payer abuse.

Ended a day of 9/11 memorial events with a stop at the Staten Island Elks’ annual Candlelight Ceremony.
As a former #NYPD Lieutenant, this day means so much to me, and it’s heartening that after 24 years so many still honor the brave souls lost that day.
#ICYMI Developers are once again placing the cart before the horse and proposing a massive truck stop facility in a congested part of my district.
From traffic volume to public safety, there are a number of reasons that I oppose this project.

It was great to tour the new IS/PS 26 in Travis #onStatenIsland today, serving grades K-8 and the District 75 Rise Academy.
Thank you to Principals Stephanie Bassett and Dr. Denise D’Anna, staff, and students for the warm welcome. Good luck!
This morning I met with Joe Liss of @NYCVeterans to discuss the agency’s work on Staten Island and across New York City.
They offer many great resources for our military veterans and families, and I strongly encourage checking out their website for more information: bit.ly/4mLDrgy
Mismanagement and unfair practices by New York’s tolling authorities such as the @MTA and @PANYNJ are resulting in motorists being excessively fined and placed deeper into financial hardship.
To stop toll payer abuse, I am introducing the 𝗧𝗼𝗹𝗹 𝗣𝗮𝘆𝗲𝗿 𝗔𝗱𝘃𝗼𝗰𝗮𝗰𝘆 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗥𝗲𝗹𝗶𝗲𝗳 𝗔𝗰𝘁 (𝗧𝗣𝗔𝗥𝗔) to cap fines, reform billing practices, and strengthen the Toll Payer Advocates so that New York motorists - many from middle and working class families - can breathe easier knowing that tolling authorities are working with them, not against them.
I am proud to say that this is the most substantial piece of legislation on the subject in the New York State Legislature, and I call on my colleagues around the state to sign on in support.
Check out the policy overview below and read the full announcement at bit.ly/3HZASsj.
