Article 17 of the Reframing Breast Cancer in Young Women series examines how a young woman's living location can affect how quickly breast cancer is diagnosed and which treatments she can access. It examines global differences in early-onset breast cancer, particularly in low- and middle-income countries, and how diagnostic delays, pathology gaps, treatment costs, and workforce shortages influence outcomes. Stronger health systems are essential to improving care. linkedin.com/pulse/global-va…

Reframing Breast Cancer in Young Women Series: Article 4 of 20. In today’s article, we discuss screening guidelines that are largely age-based and grounded in population averages, yet breast cancer biology does not suddenly begin at age 40. When screening does not apply to younger women, timely diagnosis depends heavily on recognizing symptoms and maintaining appropriate clinical vigilance. The goal is not universal imaging under 40, but prompt evaluation of symptoms and earlier identification of higher-risk individuals. The future should move from chronological age alone toward risk-informed models that incorporate clinical, family, genetic, and contemporary epidemiological data. linkedin.com/pulse/when-guid…

YWBCRI is designed to move science upstream through discovery, early detection, interruption, and prevention. Our mission is grounded in a simple yet transformative idea: if the earliest biological changes can be identified, they may one day be detected, interrupted, & prevented.

Breast cancer in young women demands a new scientific approach—one that begins earlier. At YWBCRI, we are advancing research upstream to understand the earliest biological changes that may precede clinically visible disease, creating new opportunities for earlier detection, interruption, and prevention. xitter.cf/ywbcri/status/20679104… #YWBCRI #EarlyBiology #BreastCancerResearch #BCYWF #BreastCancerinYoungWomen #BCYWFoundation
