One thing I’ve learned about toughness as a coach? You can’t give it to your players. They have to earn it. Cori Close nailed it. 🔥 “You don’t just become tough. You earn tough.” Worth 90 seconds of your time.

We are raising kids in a world that keeps trying to remove the hard. But hard is where growth happens. Kara Lawson’s message is one every parent needs to hear: “Handle hard better.” Don’t plow the path for your kids. Prepare them for the path. xitter.cf/DukeWBB/status/1544291…

Bill Parcells shares the difference between winners and losers. "Losers assemble in little groups and complain about the coaches and the players in other little groups." "But winners assemble as a team." Winners don't point fingers and they don't make excuses. They dedicate themselves to personal excellence and team excellence. They commit to the team, bringing a positive attitude, and doing the work. (Quote referenced from Emlen Tunnell)

Geno Auriemma says the hardest part of coaching isn’t winning games but instead dealing with parents who believe their child should play 35 minutes every game “My job is hard. It’s hard because, in the world that we live in today, parents are so delusional. Every one of them thinks their kid is better than Maya, better than Stewie, better than Paige, better than anybody.” “They think they should play 35 minutes every single game. These kids are under so much pressure that if they don’t live up to that, they’re not having any fun.” “What makes my job hard is trying to make sure these kids all understand that it can be a lot of fun, but everything has to be in perspective.” “Sometimes the hardest part of my job is that we’ve all kind of lost perspective of how all this works and what it means.” “Winning games and all that stuff, that’s not hard. It’s the other stuff that’s hard.”

When you're in the lab, working on your "bag" this offseason, remember... - 46.5% of your shots come with no dribble (catch and shoot) - 22% of your shots come with 1 or 2 dribbles. And don't forget, the more dribbles you take, the lower your shooting percentage gets. No Dribbles - 1.19 Points Per Shot 1 Dribble - 1.10 Points Per Shot 2 Dribbles - 1.01 Points Per Shot 3+ Dribbles - 0.97 Points Per Shot With a side note, layups are by far the most efficient shots in basketball, so use that dribble to get to the rim if you need to! But becoming a complete scorer isn’t about collecting more moves. It’s about developing the shooting, ball control, footwork, decision-making, and finishing skills to create the right shot without wasting movement or dribbles. This data was taken from the 25-26 NBA season. It barely changes season to season.

Kara Lawson shares why great teams embrace conflict. Most people think chemistry means the absence of conflict. Everybody agreeing all the time. But Lawson says that's not just wrong - it's backwards. "Conflict is a pivotal part of a successful team. There's no absence of conflict in successful teams." Read that again. Not despite conflict - because of it. "You know what there's an absence of? There's an absence of the conflict lingering. That's the difference." "There's gonna be conflict. You're gonna be mad at me sometimes. I'm gonna be mad at you sometimes. You're gonna be mad at each other." She's not describing a worst-case scenario. She's describing Tuesday. "But the teams that have success - they don't allow the pettiness to linger. They don't allow it to fester." Fester is the operative word. Conflict itself isn't the infection. Letting it sit untreated is. "Squash that thing, man, when it's over." Then she says the part that explains everything else: "We disagree about something on Wednesday - but on Friday, we don't have it still be there." 1-2 days later...that's the standard. Not never disagreeing. Not holding a grudge for a season. "You commit to one another so that when there is conflict, you're able to move past it. That's why you commit to someone else - 'cause you're gonna have conflict. It's inevitable." That reframes commitment entirely. You don't commit to a team because conflict won't happen. You commit because it will - and you need people who'll work through it with you instead of walking away from it. The strongest teams aren't the ones with the least friction. They're the ones with the shortest memory for it. (🎥@DukeWBB)

Shaquille O'Neal spoke the truth in the GOAT debate 🔥 ''See, uh I played against both of them. I know what it feels like to have LeBron charging down the lane. He’s strong, fast, a freak of nature, respect. But when you stood across from Jordan, it was something else. The air got heavy. You knew the game was his the moment he walked on the floor. He wasn’t just trying to beat you, he wanted to break you. Six championships, six Finals MVPs, never lost when the stage was biggest. That’s the killer. LeBron’s had a great career, no question, but kids today, they only see highlights, social media clips, and the hype machine around them. They don’t know the fear Jordan put in people’s eyes, the way he lifted this entire league to another level. That wasn’t marketing, that was greatness you could feel in your chest. So when the younger generation throws around goat like it’s a hashtag, I just shake my head. Respect the past. Do your homework. Because before LeBron ever called himself the king, Michael Jordan showed the world what true royalty looks like.'' ーsource : ( SA Gems ) Shaq's honest words, spoken after his life-or-death battle and rivalry with MJ, resonate 100% with us NBA fans around the world. We respect you for speaking the truth without fear of public criticism and without betraying MJ and Kobe. 🙏

Nick Saban said it best: “Leadership is about helping somebody else for their benefit, not yours.” Leadership isn’t about you. It’s about helping others grow, succeed, and believe. That’s how great teams are built.
