Our discussion forum is the only software we have using PHP. We've taken it down temporarily while waiting for the patches for php.net/archive/2026.php#202… due to vulnerability details already being available and proof of concept exploits being developed. Don't want to take the risk.

If you have a Gmail account, you need to read this.
Google's AI now scans your emails and attachments, bank statements, tax files, medical letters, all of it. It turned on by default, and there's a class-action lawsuit over how.
Here are 5 moves to shut it off, the switch is hidden in two places:
1. The Main Switch
This is the main setting Google shows you, but it's not the only one.
Gmail (Desktop):
⚙️ Settings → See all settings → Smart features and personalization → Uncheck "Turn on smart features in Gmail, Chat, and Meet" → Save Changes.
2. The Hidden Switch
Turning off the first setting isn't enough. Most people stop there.
On the same settings page: Google Workspace smart features → Manage Workspace smart feature settings → Turn off both checkboxes → Save.
Both settings need to be turned off.
3. Your Phone
The settings don't always sync between devices, so check the Gmail app separately.
Gmail app → Menu (☰) → Settings → Select your account → Turn off "Smart features and personalization" → Confirm.
4. Delete Gemini History
If you've used Gemini before, your chats may be saved, and some could be reviewed by humans.
Go to myactivity.google.com/produc…
→ Turn off Gemini Apps Activity → Delete Activity → All Time.
This removes your past Gemini chat history and stops future conversations from being saved.
5. Move Sensitive Emails
Turning off Gmail's smart features helps, but for truly private emails, consider using a separate service.
For medical, legal, or financial emails, use a free Tuta Mail account. It offers end-to-end encryption and doesn't use AI to scan your emails.
Keep Gmail for newsletters, promotions, and less sensitive messages - if you must.

We no longer have any active servers in France and are continuing the process of leaving OVH. We'll be rotating our TLS keys and Let's Encrypt account keys pinned via accounturi. DNSSEC keys may also be rotated. Our backups are encrypted and can remain on OVH for now.
Our App Store verifies the app store metadata with a cryptographic signature and downgrade protection along with verification of the packages. Android's package manager also has another layer of signature verification and downgrade protection.
Our System Updater verifies updates with a cryptographic signature and downgrade protection along with another layer of both in update_engine and a third layer of both via verified boot. Signing channel release channel names is planned too.
Our update mirrors are currently hosted on sponsored servers from ReliableSite (Los Angeles, Miami) and Tempest (London). London is a temporary location due to an emergency move from a provider which left the dedicated server business and will move. More sponsored update mirrors are coming.
Our ns1 anycast network is on Vultr and our ns2 anycast network is on BuyVM since both support BGP for announcing our own IP space. We're moving our main website/network servers used for default OS connections to a mix of Vultr+BuyVM locations.
We have 5 servers in Canada with OVH with more than static content and basic network services: email, Matrix, discussion forum, Mastodon and attestation. Our plan is to move these to Netcup root servers or a similar provider short term and then colocated servers in Toronto long term.
France isn't a safe country for open source privacy projects. They expect backdoors in encryption and for device access too. Secure devices and services are not going to be allowed. We don't feel safe using OVH for even a static website with servers in Canada/US via their Canada/US subsidiaries.
We were likely going to be able to release experimental Pixel 10 support very soon and it's getting disrupted. The attacks on our team with ongoing libel and harassment have escalated, raids on our chat rooms have escalated and more. It's rough right now and support is appreciated.

Volkswagen blocked its app from running on GrapheneOS
GrapheneOS is used by security researchers, journalists, privacy advocates, and anyone who takes mobile security seriously
The Volkswagen app still runs on Android phones that haven't received a security update in years
Volkswagen's stated reason: GrapheneOS lacks official Android features the app depends on.
GrapheneOS passes Google Play Integrity API checks
It is more secure than stock Android by every measurable standard.
Volkswagen can remotely control your car from a phone
They have decided that phone must be one the manufacturer still controls
The most secure phone you can own is now too secure to start your Volkswagen
Volkswagen didn't block GrapheneOS because it's insecure nahhh
they blocked it because GrapheneOS removes the telemetry hooks their app depends on
the "official Android features" they're referring to are data collection infrastructure
your car app doesn't need Google Play Services to start your engine
it needs it to report back
security is not the concern
control is the concern
Volkswagen has blocked its app from working on phones using GrapheneOS, a custom Android version built for stronger privacy and security.
Users can no longer log in or control their cars via the app, yet it still runs fine on some old Android phones that no longer receive security updates.
Volkswagen says the app relies on official Android features that custom versions lack, highlighting the challenges car companies face with different phone systems.

Ubuntu 26.04 LTS is now available pre-loaded on @System76 hardware.
DDOS attacks hit Ubuntu's infra and slowed us down, so we built our own and dropped the Launchpad dependency entirely. Faster releases from here on out.
When you configure your next machine, you can now choose from:
• Ubuntu 26.04 LTS (new!)
• Ubuntu 24.04 LTS
• Pop!_OS 24.04 LTS with COSMIC DE (our favorite!)

The result? Since Google's AI overhaul, our U.S. installs peaked yesterday at 76% above the pre-announcement average, and we broke our single-day search record. 🔥
