By now, you know I flew to Minnesota on a one-way ticket after two American citizens were killed by government agents. No interviews set up, no questions written down, no real plan. My 14-part podcast series "Six Days Inside Minnesota" has been nominated for Best Podcast Episode in the Human and Civil Rights category by The Anthem Awards. Voting ends tomorrow, October 29th and if you're inclined, you can cast your vote by clicking the link in the comments below. The competition is fierce, including PBS, the Investigative Reporting Lab at Yale, The Innocence Project, and the South Poverty Law Center.
The series recently won two Silver Signal Awards for Best Podcast and Best Host. Your vote will help expose the importance of this work to more people. Thank you.

I woke up to the news that my podcast series "Six Days Inside Minnesota" won two Silver Awards from The Signal Awards, for Best Podcast and Best Host. But I haven’t woken up from what I experienced in Minnesota after the government killed two innocent residents. I invite you to share that experience with me:
• Hiding out in homes with frightened, tax-paying immigrants who have lived here for decades
• Meeting a stay-at-home mom turned activist leader
• Going behind the scenes at nonprofits that expanded their missions to deliver food and essentials using secret codes
• Meeting the heroic owner of a tow company who retrieved cars after drivers were pulled from their vehicles and taken to detention
• Stepping inside a youth sports league where kids stopped showing up for fear of being picked up
• Confronting the indifference I encountered from some people
• Sitting down with my former parish priest, who endured my deep questions about faith
