“Notre Dame needs to join a conference” You realize that if Notre Dame joined the ACC our schedules would be worse, right? Conference SOS has been lopsided as a result of conference realignment (read: expansion and destruction). It’s the P2 and everyone else. It’s not in anyone’s self interest, other than the Big Ten, for Notre Dame to join that conference. You can kiss the relevancy of everyone outside the P2 goodbye. But of course, rather than applauding Notre Dame for resisting the forces of consolidation into the P2 and thereby helping preserve college football as we know it, people will act against their own self interest to just insult Notre Dame. If Notre Dame joins the Big Ten, it will trigger the final round of realignment. The ACC gets picked apart and the Big 12 will be so far behind the P2 in media rights that the compounding annual effect - plus the absolute political power to make rules and elevate the cap - will make the MLB look like a parity league in comparison.
