Here Lies the Republican Party of Texas (a thread)
Dearly beloved, we are gathered here to bury something nobody thought could die: the Texas GOP's 30-year statewide winning streak.
Let's be clear before the consultants start blaming the weather. Texas did not turn blue. Texas Republicans turned their backs. Democrats won statewide in Texas for the first time since 1994, and we handed them the keys ourselves. Gina Hinojosa is governor-elect and James Talarico is a senator-elect. Neither of them beat us. We forfeited.

Joe Rogan on the alcohol lobby and Dan Patrick banning cannabis in Texas:
“The Texas thing is all about alcohol. It's all about alcohol. It's traceable money to Dan Patrick.”
“Because marijuana is relatively inexpensive. If you go out drinking with some buddies, you have $500-600 tab at the end of the night.
In California where you can legally buy [cannabis] - $15 to $20 and you’re barbecued for the whole night. Especially California cannabis.”

🚨#BREAKING: A Georgia mayor suspected his police force wasn't working very hard so he SECRETLY put a TRACKER on his police chief’s truck...
...and the ENTIRE POLICE FORCE QUIT
Yes, the cops found out what it feels like to be tracked and they ALL resigned.
The story is WILD.
According to the city council, sometime in late August Mayor Craig Timmons decided he had a “problem” with the department’s work hours.
So, he bought a tracker with his own money and put it on Chief Bunn’s (chief of police) vehicle.
He also pointed a CAMERA at City Hall to watch employees come and go.
The chief resigned.
Every full-time officer resigned.
Most of the reserves resigned.
The city manager resigned.
...now hold that thought.
Right now, all over America, Flock cameras are going up on poles in towns just like Milner.
They photograph YOUR car, every day, everywhere you drive.
In many places, police can search that data WITHOUT A WARRANT.
And when regular people stand up at council meetings and object?
We’re told, “If you’ve done nothing wrong, you have nothing to hide.”
...but when the POLICE start to get tracked, they all resign????
Interesting.

I spoke with someone at Austin Animal Services today.
They did not have any news on the status of Major the Belgian Malinois. From what they told me, the city of Austin was going to euthanize Major in the absence of a court order enjoining them from doing so.
I have since been told that something of a mutual agreement had been reached giving another two weeks grace. I cannot confirm that, however.
For those who don’t know, Major is a Belgian Malinois who has been kept in isolation for over 500 days because the dog bit someone after it was struck by a vehicle.
The owner, who was homeless at the time, tied the injured dog to a porch while he went to get help. In the interim, some good Samaritans tried to help the dog, but the dog bit one of the good Samaritans causing relatively substantial damage to the arm.
Worth noting, the good Samaritan wanted nothing to do with the euthanizing of the dog.
The dog was his service animal.
The owner has been fighting the order to euthanize the dog. The dog has been in isolation for over 500 days.
I was given the contact information for the director of Austin Animal services, Monica Dangler.
I left her a very respectful voicemail, and I encourage everyone to do the same.
I will also send her a respectful email, and I encourage everyone to do the same.
I am not being glib or double-fakey: please keep it respectful, for two reasons. It’s not clear who is making the decisions here, so taking out your rage on Monica might be misdirected.
And being rude and/or threatening will likely also be counterproductive to the end goal, which is to save Major.
So please, out of respect to me, a man who loves dogs more than most humans, be respectful in the messages you leave.
We are trying to save the dog, not justify a cathartic release of anger on someone who may or may not even be responsible for the current situation.

You’ve been lied to about Lindsay Clancy, she wasn’t some struggling mom, she was very privileged
“The 8 month old baby was born. The 3 and 5 year old were in daycare full-time. Patrick took a 12 week paternity leave, and they hired a nanny to help with the newborn baby. After the 12 week leave was over, Patrick could see that Lindsay needed more help and support, so he decided to move his office into home and started working from home.
So they decided they didn't need the nanny anymore because Patrick was gonna stay home, and you guys are saying that this woman had no support? That is false.
A key factor that you guys are missing of this whole entire thing, and you're letting this woman play on your emotions, she was a labor and delivery nurse herself. She was in this career path. Lindsay knew, she knew, if I tell my doctors that I am hearing voices and having thoughts of harming my children, they're going to be taken away from me. She knew that. She is smart, she's calculated, and this was premeditated.
Any woman going through actual psychosis, especially with the career path she was in, being very educated on this, she would have gone to her doctors and said, "I need them away from me because I think I'm gonna kill them." She didn't do that.
Why? Because she wanted the opportunity to kill her three kids. She Googled how to kill. She Googled how long it would take Patrick to go from the house to the restaurant. She murdered one child. Patrick called. She missed the call. She called back after killing one child and said, "We're good here. Everything's fine. We're fine."’
She also gives an excellent medicine breakdown on how there is no way she was actually in the state of mind she claims to be
“You guys are letting a very smart and calculated woman manipulate you and play on your emotions, and it's working, and a jury really might let her walk because… it's scary”
And now we have a mistrial….
The only correction here is the children were in preschool not daycare but either way they were not in the home and being attended to at preschool 3 and a half days a week. The callback after the first murder is speculation but she 100% did call Patrick back after he called her. Showing she was definitely not in some psychosis
Lindsay Clancy was very privileged. Her husband is estimated to make between $258,000-$482,000 per year based on his job and Glassdoor salaries

Good morning Beautiful People/Patriots. A coffee toast in memory of Doc James M. Swink II.
A Great Soul. A Greater Warrior.
Lest We Forget.
"James Swink, a Navy hospital corpsman, knew early in life that he liked to help people.
At 13, he volunteered with Project R.I.D.E, a Northern California group that provides horseback lessons for children with autism and other special needs. Too young at first to do more than cleans stalls, he continued to volunteer with the organization until he could begin working hands-on with the new riders, the Los Angeles Times reported.
"He was obviously drawn to help others, as he was one of very few volunteers who came here in their teens, as those years are a time when they are more into themselves than others around them," Tina Calanchini of Project R.I.D.E. told the Times.
Swink, of Yucca Valley, Calif., was killed Aug. 27 in a vehicle accident in Helmand province, Afghanistan. He was 20 and based at Camp Lejeune. He enlisted after graduating from Yucca Valley High School in 2007.
He was the youngest in a family of veterans, with his father and grandfather having served in the Navy; his brothers Brian Mullins and John Swink serving in the Marine Corps; and his sister Melissa Strickland in the Air Force.
"Mike became a corpsman because he loves people and he loves to care for people," his father said."

As we approach August 26, I want to remember the 13 American Warriors killed at Abbey Gate in Kabul in 2021.
11 Marines.
1 Navy Hospital Corpsman.
1 Army Soldier.
They were standing their post during the evacuation of Afghanistan. They were doing what they were trained to do. In the middle of chaos, danger, and uncertainty, they stayed stood the line.
That is why I wrote “They Stood the Watch.”
This song is about more than how they died. It’s about duty, Brotherhood, Courage, Sacrifice. It is about the men and women who stand where they are told to stand, protect the people in front of them, left, right, behind them and no matter what keep doing the job when everything around them is falling apart.

“Greater love hath no man than this, that a man lay down his life for his friends.”
When August 26 hits, remember their names.
Remember their families.
Remember the brothers and sisters who were there and still carry that day with them.
They answered the call.
They stood the watch.
Never let 13 become just a number.
