A Texas father who had lived in the U.S. for 25 years with no criminal record was finishing his night shift as an Uber driver when immigration agents detained him.
Without being able to speak to his lawyer or a judge, he was put on a plane and sent first to Ghana, a country where he had no ties. Ofcom has effectively conceded defeat in its fight with 4chan.
The UK regulator tried to force 4chan to comply with the Online Safety Act and threatened enforcement action, despite 4chan being a US-based platform.

Bulkhead, the studio behind Wardogs, checks applicants’ Steam accounts when hiring to see how much they actually play FPS games.
Senior producer Kane Allard said applicants must provide their Steam hours. The studio wants people who are genuinely passionate about shooters and understand the genre.
Executive director Joe Brammer said playing other types of games isn’t a bad thing and doesn’t make someone a worse developer, they want to make sure the people working on their FPS understand the details and the audience.
Brammer compared it to asking him to make a Final Fantasy game: “You wouldn’t let me go and make Final Fantasy. I wouldn’t know what we’re talking about.”
