I often feel I don’t belong to any camp here, so my views often upset both sides.
This will upset some:
Samuel Sey may not have been a US citizen, but he was a sojourner in the truest sense—not as the Left misuses the term.
If he violated the rules, he should face the consequences, but dehumanizing him or gloating over his suffering makes God your enemy.
Leviticus 19:34: “You shall treat the stranger who sojourns with you as the native among you, and you shall love him as yourself, for you were strangers in the land of Egypt: I am the Lord your God.”
To upset the other side:
I don’t like Samuel personally or his attitude toward those who love our nation and wish to preserve its culture.
He is overrated as a Christian thinker, IMO, and I clashed with him years ago on Twitter; he then blocked me, as I recall.
On X, people can’t grasp that two things can be true at once.
They can.
Joel blocked me, so I have to respond like this.
My wife is from England, so we had to go through all of these things. The rules and forms are confusing, so it's not something to play around with.
It doesn't seem likely that Samuel would fly if he knew he did not have a green card, so we wil have to await his reason.
I wonder what type of visa he had? From the brief description it doesn't sound like a K-1 visa (fiance visa). That's the correct one to get if planning on marrying. It gets way more complicated if you enter the US on a tourist visa and then get married and try to adjust status. (I'm not saying that's what happened... Just saying that it is complicated and any shortcuts tend to backfire.)
In two families I know... One American was deported from Canada (married to a Canadian) for getting visa info wrong. Another Canadian/American marriage, and the Canadian was deported from the US.
It is highly unlikely that Samuel Sey would have traveled by air knowing he didn't have legal status.
So, this is probably not deliberate; however, neglecting to comply is still a huge issue, obviously.
If that's the case, perhaps his attorney can get him out on bail.
And if this is in fact the situation, I will give generously to the cause.
A clear sign that a man has understood and been transformed by the Gospel is that he apologizes and makes restitution when he has wronged a brother.
Grace kills pride.
"Bear each other's burdens" does not mean what you think it does.
There are two distinct Greek words used in the below verses for "burden".
Gal. 6:5 - Each must bear his own burdens: φορτίον
Gal. 6:2 - "Carry each other’s burdens (βάρη), and in this way you will fulfill the law of Christ."
We should only look for help with extraordinary burdens that no man could possibly bear: βάρη

Almost like it was designed that way.
As we contemplate the miracle of the full solar eclipse - an event very rare in the universe, it should be noted that the reason for this phenomenon is that the Sun is 400 times wider than the Moon and the distance between the Earth & the Sun is 400 times the diameter of the moon. So when the 3 bodies line up, a perfect eclipse is formed.
Because of the solar eclipse, humans have been able to study the sun during these rare events, and it has greatly enhanced our understanding of our place in the solar system.
Add to that the implications of the moon’s immense size & proximity to the Earth, through gravitational pull, enabling tides & oceans as we know it. Without the moon, life on Earth, if it had evolved at all, would almost certainly be quite different.
It’s almost as if this were all intended.🌞
