Who won the MLB trade deadline?
Two organizations separated themselves from the pack with aggressive moves that could reshape the postseason race.
Our instant reaction via @cyfreddyszn: baseballprospectjournal.com/…
The MLB trade deadline created clear winners... but these three teams walked away with more questions than answers.
Why the Yankees, Reds and even baseball itself are the biggest losers from deadline day. Story by @cyfreddyszn: baseballprospectjournal.com/…

This is a big signing for the Brewers. Really like Maiorana’s potential, especially in the Brewers player development system where they get the most out of pitchers.
14th-rder Keaton Maiorana signs w/@Brewers for $230,800 ($80,800 counts vs bonus pool). Colorado prep RHP, 6-foot-5, up to 97 mph, high-spin slider. @unlvbaseball recruit. @MLBDraft

Brewers sign prep righty Julian Garcia to a massive over-slot deal. Legit fastball, curveball combination. Big potential.
4th-rder Julian Garcia signs w/@Brewers for $1.5 million (slot 130 value = $585,700). California prep RHP, one of best curveballs in @MLBDraft, 92-97 mph fastball. @LBDirtbags recruit.

#Brewers make it official, signing first-rounder Trey Ebel to a below-slot deal. The California prep shortstop receives $2.8 million.
1st-rder Trey Ebel signs w/@Brewers for $2.8 million (slot 25 value = $3,696,000). California prep SS, quality AB & refined instincts, no surprise considering he's the son of @Dodgers 3B coach Dino. Milwaukee drafted his brother Brady 32nd overall last yr. @AggieBaseball recruit.

The #RedSox take talented Wisconsin prep shortstop Jace Mataczynski in the third round. He's an athletic, projectable shortstop with a quick, compact right-handed swing, advanced barrel control and the potential to grow into above-average power as he adds strength. He also projects to remain at shortstop thanks to his speed, lateral quickness and strong arm, giving him impact upside on both sides of the ball. baseballprospectjournal.com/…

The #Brewers take Florida outfielder Kyle Jones in the third round. Kyle Jones is an athletic center fielder with advanced bat-to-ball skills, plus speed and the ability to impact the game on the bases and defensively. Get to know him here: baseballprospectjournal.com/…

Liberty right-handed pitcher Ben Blair ends up going to the Tampa Bay Rays. Great fit for Blair, who has great intangibles but needs a consistent third pitcher. Like his potential a lot. Get to know him here: baseballprospectjournal.com/…

The #Brewers land TCU outfielder Sawyer Strosnider, a first-round talent, with the No. 66 pick. Strosnider boasts some of the best raw power in the class. The left-handed hitter has a beautiful swing and huge power, but improving his chase rates will be key to unlocking his offensive ceiling.

The Cardinals select Tennessee RHP Tegan Kuhns with the 32nd overall pick. He has a really good fastball, curveball combination and attacks the strike zone. Get to know him here: baseballprospectjournal.com/…

The Twins select Texas catcher Carson Tinney in the second round. He is a big power hitter and overall a player who thrived in the SEC this year. You'd like to see his tool improve slightly, but you can deal with that if he sticks behind the plate. baseballprospectjournal.com/…

The #Brewers' selection of Trey Ebel is an underslot deal. With the sixth-smallest bonus pool in the #MLBDraft, Milwaukee lands a player it values while creating flexibility to spread the savings across its remaining picks.
The #Brewers select California prep SS Trey Ebel with the No. 25 pick in the #MLBDraft.
Ebel carried more of a second-round grade but generated plenty of helium after a strong spring. The Brewers had been linked to him throughout the draft cycle and now reunite him with older brother Brady, their 2025 first-round pick. He's also the son of Dodgers third base coach Dino Ebel.
A polished right-handed hitter, Ebel consistently puts the barrel on the ball, handles velocity well and has the instincts and arm strength to play on the left side of the infield. Even if he shifts to third base, he projects as a potential plus defender.
