Tuesday night we held our MLB scout day. Afterwards we fed our team and the scouts a low country shrimp boil. Thanks to all the scouts that could attend and thanks to our awesome volunteers that make this happen (Drew, Lee, Carson, Rocket, Barry and Atlantic Seafood). GoHawks!

Jeter to Murphy...
“The Brewers play baseball the right way” ….
- Pat Murphy replies … “Guys today don’t understand that!”
We have gotten so far away from center as to what winning baseball is and looks like… the younger generation’s focus is on launch angle, spin rates, velocity and you only win by out slugging the opponent! Basically…. Hit more HR than the other team…. Then pimp the HR.
Well eyes have been opened. They have to be. It’s now a matter of … if pride will keep the other orgs from following. If they do… our game will skyrocket like never before.
It was literally the most beautiful baseball I have seen at the MLB level … electric!

.@UNCWBaseball's lineup returns a proven centerpiece in Jake Bechtel, who posted an .816 OPS with 10 homers, 15 doubles and 22 steals last spring.
At 6-foot-5, 230 pounds, he's still just scratching the surface of his potential.

1/ MLB Draft Truth: Why Most Late-Round Pitchers Who Make It Are Command Guys, Not Pure Stuff Monsters
After digging into the 2019 (full 40-round) and 2020 (5-round COVID draft) classes, the pattern is crystal clear. Pitchers drafted after Round 3 who actually reached MLB were overwhelmingly “command/pitchability” types — or guys with a solid command floor + development upside. Not the classic high-velocity, low-command boom-or-bust arms.
Here’s the steelmanned case with real examples. ⚾
