Freeport-McMoRan’s Q3 #copper production fell 13%, largely due to the recent mud slide and subsequent closure of its Grasberg operations in Indonesia. Total group output in Q3 was 912 million lbs (413,676 tonnes), vs 1.05 billion lbs (476,725 tonnes) in the same period of 2024.

Freeport says its 2026 #copper production in Indonesia to be down by around 248,887 tonnes, which is 35% of pre-incident estimates of 1.7 billion pounds (711,107 tonnes).

Freeport says #copper smelting operations in Indonesia "have operated with limited availability since the incident,” at Grasberg. “Both smelters in Indonesia are currently on stand-by status pending the availability of copper concentrate,” the company adds.
