BREAKING: DePaul guard Brandon Maclin’s court case was dismissed per Chris Holtmann. Only possible way he can play is if the Colorado court case gets overturned. “We're just kind of playing this thing out and seeing where it goes right now. One of the things for us is, we'd like to also have him as a GA, and he can kind of help in practice as he prepares for playing overseas. If he doesn't get awarded a fifth year.”

I asked DePaul coach Chris Holtmann if him getting fired at Ohio State influenced him be willing to take less money and extend at DePaul: “I think it might have, in some ways. I wouldn’t want to bring any other school necessarily into that decision. It was more about me appreciating what this relationship with DeWayne Peevy, Rob (Manuel), and the board. It’s one thing for a coach to say, ‘Hey, listen, we’re all in this together. I’m going to go have fundraising meals, sit down with donors, and attend the events.’ It’s another thing to say, ‘Okay, hey, I’m going to forfeit some of my salary that was already committed.’ It’s completely different, and I wanted to be as demonstrative as I could through my actions to show that we’re in this together.”
