It's very hard to narrow down. I prioritized trying to list remarkable anime along different themes rather than just giving my favorites. There are several of my favorites in here, though.

Movies are sacred to me, which means I care about the conversation around them. Letterboxd has successfully monopolized contemporary film discourse. I’ve compromised by creeping on it without having an account, which still shows how inescapable the platform's control has become.
Season 1 was really good. There was a spin-off. I didn't even manage to finish it. Hopefully season 2 is better.

I too dislike Letterboxd and think it has largely been a net negative for movie watching because literally every social media app rewires your brain to look at the world in more algorithmic terms. But I learned a long time ago that complaining about that really riles people up.

Like it or not, LOADS of viewers will STILL ROOT for Paul as the HERO, as Frank Herbert intended. Both the films and books portray him as trapped by prescience, with no better choices. This allows us to sympathize with Paul and root for him while still recognizing the dangers of powerful large human systems, which is also what Herbert intended.
FOR THIS REASON, positioning Chani in opposition to Paul risks making her the antagonist to what many audiences see as his most reasonable, albeit terrible, course of action.

There are adults (who claim to be writers) who can't wrap their heads around "depiction does not equal endorsement," and they aren't even embarrassed to post about it. Amazing

From a black man, black fans ain't fixing shit. It's just narcissistic to believe that a medium that is perfectly fine the way it is needs to be fixed. These "Black anime fans" were perfectly fine getting into it as is but now you wanna change it? Do me a favor and FUCK WAY OFF!

🇯🇵 No. Anime does not have a "race problem" and "black fans" do not to fix it.
Instead of destroying Japanese art, why don't they just invent something of their own? If you don't like what we do, come up with your own anime. Stop trying to steal ours.
So many conversations turn out this way. Some people are so poisoned and so trollish that you have to give up on them. They will exploit you at every possible turn and use every possible bit of leverage they can fabricate. Recognize them for what they are.

I know at least two people like this personally. Their entire personality is just consuming and promoting mainstream products, wearing graphic tees with intellectual property, talking about whether adaptations were accurate or not, and telling you about Rotten Tomatoes scores.

Clayface was Matt Reeves' idea. He and Mike Flanagan started developing it right after The Batman as a Rogues' Gallery origin story — Reeves' own words, in the official press kit. Then Gunn and Safran took over DC Studios, heard the pitch, and decided it belonged in the DCU instead. Gunn's public reason: Clayface doesn't fit Reeves' grounded Crime Saga.
Convenient. Meanwhile, for months, every time someone asked about Batman 2's script, Gunn's answer was the same loop "Matt's slow, let him take his time, get off his nuts, the script isn't ready." Then in June 2025, Reeves posted a photo of the finished script cover page with Mattson Tomlin. Gunn read it on a plane and called it great. So the script was done. The delay wasn't Reeves.
Now flash forward to October 2026. Reeves steps away from filming Batman 2 for a family matter. Soderbergh steps in to finish. Gunn immediately posts that Reeves is still the director and always will be, which is exactly what you'd say if you were trying to kill the Snyder comparison before it starts. Same studio, same playbook, different decade. The pattern isn't subtle. Gunn controls the narrative, Reeves does the work, and every time Reeves proves himself, the story gets rewritten so the credit lands elsewhere.
@SlavsFreeTalk can frame it however he wants, but the receipts from 2025 to 2026 tell a different story
It is more common on TV than in movies because shows need to pad their runtimes. Even if it isn't "therapyspeak/medical lingo", in these shows people often speak in ways that aren't common, appropriate, or believable for the context in order to create the illusion of drama.
