When I was at uni in Durban in 🇿🇦 a sociology lecturer said there was enough food in the world to feed everyone and hunger was a distribution problem. Grain was dumped in the sea to keep prices up, for example. It’s the same with wealth. There is enough for all of us if we share

If what Hancock did isn't the common law offence of Misconduct in Public Office, punishable by up to life imprisonment, nothing is or ever could be.
2020: Matt Hancock, "Right from the start we've tried to throw a protective ring around our care homes" 2026: Baroness Hallett, "The claim that a so called protective ring has be thrown around care homes right from the start was unfounded. Quite the opposite is true. The adult social care sector as a whole, appeared to be something of an after thought" My view: Matt Hancock said the government had tried to throw a “protective ring” around care homes. He repeated the claim in Parliament. Nadhim Zahawi later publicly backed it, while Boris Johnson defended the government’s handling when challenged. Now Baroness Hallett’s inquiry has rejected the claim as unfounded: care homes were not protected from the start; adult social care was treated as an afterthought. This was more than a failure of words. Patients were discharged from hospitals into care homes without routine testing, and care homes were not advised to isolate those arrivals. Staff faced shortages of PPE and testing, while residents and families bore the consequences. The inquiry describes a system that failed to plan for the risks and failed to put care homes at the centre of its response. What we saw was a collective failure—a collaboration of incompetence at the expense of life. The phrase “protective ring” offered reassurance while the protections people needed were missing. Thousands of families were left grieving, and care workers were left trying to cope with the consequences. Those responsible should face the findings honestly, explain how this happened and make sure the lessons lead to change. But the question remains, why is there almost no accountability for the actions government ministers took during covid?

If this was France, Johnson, Hancock and Whately would be in hiding tonight. Instead they’re texting each other to just lay low for a few days until it all blows over

The first duty of a Government is to protect it's citizens. Johnson and Hancock now need to be arrested for lying to the people in the most contemptible and lethal manner. #CovidInquiry

Not only did Whatley & Hancock order the release of untested & Covid sick hospital patients into care homes, they made residents wait a month after Pfizer was available for the much lower efficacy AZ vaccine because Boris wanted to stick one to the EU. They should be jailed.

#C4News @andyburnham When are you going to bring prosecutions against the Tories regarding Covid 19 failures and the fraudulent VIP lane corruption? When are you going to close tax evasion/avoidance loopholes?

Worth noting that while Johnson and Hancock deservedly get much of the flak for this deadly failure, the minister who failed to protect the care sector was Helen Whately - who is now the Tory shadow minister pushing draconian benefit reforms
The Covid inquiry confirms that social care was an 'afterthought' for the government in the pandemic, as I and others claimed at the time. This symbolises how Westminster always sees it as a second-class public service of far less importance than the NHS. Utterly shameful.

This man and his lackey Hancock have been found guilty of killing thousands of older people living in care homes and lying to the public time and again. They should be arrested, prosecuted and imprisoned posthaste.

This is psychopathic behaviour. And now she is going after disabled people.
Just stone cold psychopath @Helen_Whately laughing about thousands of unnecessary deaths in care homes during #covid Insane to watch her blood lust increase with each passing yr. But studies show that predators do escalate their sadism with age. youtu.be/EEePhqG9xMQ?is=IwtZ…

It *wasn't* an "oversight". It was *100% deliberate*. It was warned about at the time, hundreds of experts told them *daily* what was needed & what would happen - & Boris Johnson's reaction was "Let the bodies pile high!" I want prosecutions for murder. theguardian.com/uk-news/2026…

95%* of Black children in the UK have heard or directly experienced racist abuse at school. It is interesting that there was no action taken after that report. *ymcaeurope.com/young-and-bla…
BREAKING: A landmark government report is set to reveal the vast scale of antisemitism in English schools and colleges, Sky News can exclusively reveal. The report, written by former schools inspector Sir David Bell, will on Wednesday set out 27 recommendations to create change.
