Happy Earth Day! We eat, sleep, learn, explore, research, scuba dive, run, swim, kayak, sail, farm, and do so much in the great outdoors. On #EarthDay and every day we instill a strong sense of place in our students in order to raise environmental stewards who #protectourplanet!
On Friday our Elementary Learning Center students had a lesson about #seagrass ecosystems with @CEIbahamas scientist and @heithauslab PhD candidate Liberty Boyd. Snorkeling right off our campus they learned about various types of seagrass and the role they play in the ecosystem!

We work with @TheIslandSchool semester students in Research Class several times a week. The research program allows students to learn about the scientific method not vicariously through a textbook and cookie-cutter experiments, but rather by actually getting out in the field.
