For Christopher Dawes, navigating the challenges of growing up in State care could have easily defined his future. Instead, he allowed the circumstances and his faith in God to positively shape the person he is today, becoming a passionate and purpose-driven educator.

How do people who barely know you feel so comfortable asking for financial favours? The audacity is truly something. 😅

Before you buy the Ninja Slushie machine for use in Jamaica, ensure you have a 220V socket for it to be plugged into.

#FlashbackFriday to a powerful day of opportunity, preparation and possibility. 🎓✨
Earlier this year, the Child Protection and Family Services Agency hosted its annual Transitional Living Programme Higher Education Day for Youth in State Care and Expo at the Douglas Orane Auditorium, Wolmer’s Boys’ School.
Under the theme “Ready fi Life,” approximately 300 young people were connected with opportunities in tertiary education, vocational training, career development and other essential support as they prepare for life beyond State care.
One of the major highlights of the day was the announcement by the Supreme Ventures Foundation @supremeventuresfoundation of 25 full tertiary scholarships for adolescents transitioning out of State care, opening even more doors for these young people to pursue their goals and build meaningful futures.
Representatives from several institutions were also on hand to provide guidance, information and support, including:
UTech Jamaica @utechjamaica
Caribbean Maritime University @caribbeanmaritimeuniveristy
The Mico University College @themicouniversitycollege
HEART/NSTA Trust @hearttrustnsta
Vocational Training Development Institute @vtdiofficial
Jamaica Defence Force @jdfsoldier
National Insurance Scheme
Bureau of Gender Affairs
As we look back, we are reminded that preparing young people for independence takes more than encouragement. It takes access, opportunity, guidance and a strong network of support.
At CPFSA, we remain committed to helping every young person in State care move forward with confidence, purpose and possibility.
Ready fi Life. Ready fi Next.
