My interview with @GaryVee is now live!
This interview has been years in the making, and I'm so excited to finally be able to share it with you 👉 thejacobkelly.com/interviews…
Who you work with is more important than what you work on.
@hf0 is an intense experience. You work 12+ hour days for 10 weeks straight. You're locked in the same room, with the same people, grinding, everyday.
We're halfway through our residency now, for the last few weeks we've spent pretty much every waking second together. We've accomplished a lot, but one of the things I am most proud of is that we're not sick of each other. We have as much fun together today as we did at the beginning.
One of my favourite parts of the day is our team dinners. After a long day of working together we choose to spend more time together, eating, laughing, brainstorming, and enjoying each other's company. This speaks to the culture at @boardyai and the team @andrewdsouza has built.
Building something ambitious can be gruelling, in case no one told you, building a startup is hard. We've made a lot of progress in the last few weeks but progress is made by overcoming difficult obstacles. Overcoming them becomes easier when you have a team you like and trust to help you overcome them.
What carries you through in the hardest moments is your belief in the mission and the people you work with.
All a company is, is a group of people. Who those people are will dictate what that company becomes. Grateful that the company I get to work for is filled with this group of amazing humans ❤️
This felt like mandatory viewing while in SF.
Watched You Can See Everything last night, and it is a masterpiece. The way they constructed this film and its story is incredible.
The first half might feel slow, but every second is necessary in order to pull off what they achieved in the brilliant back half of the movie.
Hill I am willing to die on (and there are many in SF):
Running is the best way to see a new city. These are all from my run this morning.

Trying to copy what’s working for someone else is a race to the bottom. Doing what only you can do, and seeking mastery in it, is a race to the top.
A simple but important moment from @alexandr_wang’s interview with @davidsenra:
“The internet rewards risk.”
I think an important caveat to this is the internet rewards risk over the short term.

One of my favourite @RickRubin quotes is:
"The Muse responds to commitment."
You're more likely to find inspiration when working on existing idea than when trying to come up with a new one.
Inspiration finds you on the road, not at the start line.
“If it’s going well, end your writing session in the middle.”
It’s hard to start every session with a blank canvas, so leave yourself one partially filled in. Momentum matters.

The most selective startup program in the world is @hf0 ... this is written on the whiteboard in their gym:
"Obsession is the righteous path."

It is only through this obsession that we are going to achieve the unreasonable goals we have set, and it is only through achieving these unreasonable goals that I get the chance to create a better life for my wife and I.
