Had our first @X Calls meeting today because Teams was having issues. Have to say, it is already so much better than MS Teams. Great job to @blankspeaker and team!

Grok 4.7 is here.
It's a notable improvement over Grok 4.6 at the same price and speed.
I have spoiled myself by working in Linux (with some macOS) for the last few years. The need arose for a Windows machine (not my requirement), and man... I do not miss this. On day two of installation, after several hours chasing how to even get a downloaded ISO (directly from Microsoft) to be a bootable USB.
Today's adventures started by finally fixing the boot issue, and then I had to reconfigure the BIOS to enable TPM. All things I can do, but how in the world do they expect "ordinary" people to do this?
Meanwhile, most recently @OmarchyLinux installed and was fully usable within 15-20 minutes from scratch - as has been the case with most Linux distros for me.
Just...wow. Maybe this really IS the year of the Linux desktop.
Resuscitating a 2019 Samsung Chromebook (501C) with Omarchy Linux (@dhh). Going well so far, but updating after initial install requiring 10GB free disk space is a bit of a challenge.
Grok Build (@build ) users: the /learn and /usage commands keep you informed and productive.
X Calls / X Meetings already has everything most people would need in a conferencing solution.
New look at X Calls / X Meetings is coming along nicely, but you need to hear what's under the hood.
Since last time we posted about it, they have added more features.:
-A lobby so you can check camera and mic before you join.
-Side chat in the call for comments and links.
-Audio device picker plus noise reduction.
-Background overlays generated by Grok Imagine.
-Emoji reactions, and you can search any emoji.
Biggest piece: This is not using the old Periscope backend ( which was a limiting factor on further development for spaces and broadcasts)
They're rebuilding meetings from the ground up and will eventually be able to redo live broadcasts and Spaces in the future based on this new, superior system.
We cant Wait!
First, there was the CoPilot rug pull in June. Then there was the outage on August 12th. It's no wonder so many people are actively looking for reliable and fairly priced alternatives right now.
If you haven't already, check out @cursor_ai and @grok build.
Grok Build (x.ai/build) offers so much value for the price. It has consistently outperformed my other subscriptions.
For fellow Grok Build (v4.5 as of this writing) users, this currently experimental feature is pretty nice:
grok --experimental-memory
# or GROK_MEMORY=1
# or [memory] enabled = true in ~/.grok/config.toml
Hey @spacexai and @grok, having support agents that actually respond promptly (human or otherwise, it's been over a week now) is a good thing.
Support experience has sucked so far.

Something I read ages ago that I’ve drilled into every new programmer I’ve mentored. My updated take:
First, make it work.
Then, make it work well.
Then, make it fast.
Only then - and only if it actually matters - worry about making it pretty.
All that vaporware bullshit developed purely for the sales demo can die in a fire.
