my physics simulations confirm, jazz’s sweet spot is in fact shifted down from normal, but it’s nothing crazy! certainly not game breaking.

Driveline 📍 Seoul Biomechanics are cool. Arsenal analysis is cool. Force plates are cool. Data is cool. Knowing how to apply that info is cooler. 15 years of experience assessing MLB, MiLB, KBO, NPB, & CPBL players = a dataset w/ actionable insights across populations.

I don't know how they do it, but you can add inventing the perfect sports drink to the list of Japan's accomplishments. Uncanny. Tastes like how water tastes in a dream.

We are super excited for the release of part I of this series on the #biomechanics of Mykolas Alekna's WR discus throw just in time for the @Olympics. Thanks go to too many people to list here, but they're mentioned in the report! hmmrmedia.com/2024/07/analyz…

Many reasons but just because a team has data (biomech or otherwise) doesn’t mean they use it. If they use it, doesn’t mean they use it well. If they can get it in a good place doesn’t mean they can communicate it. It’s a really complicated problem between tech & no tech
If I am a MLB team and have all of the biomechanical tools and data science, what is the explanation?

Someone suggested that I ask MidJourney to show me a cat but to keep adding “A”s until it wasn’t a cat anymore. Here is “cat.”

For markerless mocap validation, we often see R^2 values >0.85 and RMSE values <10deg when comparing all points from time series across systems. But what's good? What would we see if a hypothetical system just predicted avg mechanics for every throw? 1/n

Humans are complex creatures. Baseball is complicated. We don’t have it figured out. But a few things are true: 1. More info is better than none 2. Pitch count limits are not universal 3. Building throwing fitness matters Measure it
Jack Leiter threw 124 pitches in yesterday’s start and the internet got mad. The thing is: workload management for pitchers is a little more nuanced than “pitches per start”; a thread.

This is absolutely insane. Massive shoutout to @TheJoeMarsh ,the entire Sports Science team at @DrivelineBB , and everyone who played a part in these force plates getting installed (looking at you @mviydo ). I strongly believe there isn't a better place to become a better pitcher

Our paper on adversarial motion priors has been accepted into @siggraph 2021! Adversarial imitation learning is finally starting to work for complex simulated characters. Paper + code: xbpeng.github.io/projects/AM… Thanks to my collaborators: Ze Ma, @pabbeel @svlevine @akanazawa
