A new standard for follow up colonoscopies! 📣📣
A positive noninvasive #colorectal cancer screening test signals that a follow up #colonoscopy is needed. But for too long, what happens after a positive result has gone largely untracked by the health care system.
That's starting to change. The National Committee for Quality Assurance (NCQA) just released a new Healthcare Effectiveness Data and Information Set (HEDIS) quality measure holding health plans accountable, for the first time, for whether patients actually get a follow up colonoscopy after an abnormal screening test.
#FightCRC helped shape this measure by serving on NCQA's Cancer Measurement Advisory Panel and pushing for years through state legislation to protect access to follow up colonoscopies.
It's real progress, but not perfect. Read the full breakdown of what this measure does, where it falls short, and how your organization can get involved at fightcolorectalcancer.org/re…

We are incredibly grateful for the strong support of our state elected officials as we move forward in building a world-class cancer center here in Mississippi. State lawmakers have appropriated $100 million to this effort and yesterday it was signed into law by Gov. Tate Reeves.

Mississippi leads the nation in CRC deaths.
Screening can change that story.
