The American Association congratulates @saltdogsball President Charlie Meyer on his retirement after 26 remarkable years! Charlie’s leadership helped pave the way for a 2009 Championship and maintaining the league’s premier playing surface for 24 straight years. Thank you for everything, Charlie!
Thank you, Charlie Meyer. After more than 26 years leading the Lincoln Saltdogs, Charlie’s impact on this organization, Haymarket Park, and the Lincoln community is impossible to measure. From championship moments to the everyday memories that made the ballpark special, his leadership helped shape Saltdogs baseball into what it is today. Wishing Charlie all the best in retirement! We’ll see you at the ballpark, just in a different seat. Read more: saltdogs.com/thank-you-charl…

Learn this… live this… become the best version of yourself you possibly can.
When I travel around and speak I always share this story of Player 1 vs. Player 2. A story that many of us have seen play out in real life countless times. Player 1 has amazing natural, god-given talent BUT a very weak mindset. More specifically: - The fear of failure and what others think hold him back the most. He doesn’t know how to handle adversity and avoids stepping out of his comfort zone as much as possible. - He focuses way more on what’s OUT of his control - When things don’t go his way he acts like a victim. Finds excuses, blames others, complains, etc. - He doesn’t have set mental performance routines to stack the odds in his favor and quickly bounce back from adversity when it comes his way - He doesn’t have the work ethic needed to be great and the discipline to do what needs to be done whether he feels like it or not Player 2 has pretty good natural talent, but no where near the level of Player 1. But he found out about the power of the mind and trained it intentionally. What happened next? - Fears that were huge obstacles and held him back more than anything, now became assets that fueled his performance ON and OFF the field - He realized the only way to grow was to step out of his comfort zone every single day, so he got comfortable being uncomfortable - He become great at controlling the controllables - When things didn’t go his way he acted like a Warrior and asked himself, “What’s important now?” - He developed set routines that gave him a true competitive edge and helped him stop the downward spiral when it started - He had the work ethic and discipline needed to be elite Let me end with this: Which player do you think had more confidence, more fun, and a more rewarding and successful career both ON and OFF the field? I think you would agree Player 2 all day, every day. So, if you’re a ballplayer out there, which player are you going to be?
