Episode 4: Völkerwanderung Part 2! Link ⬇️. In this episode we complete the Germanic conquest of the Western Roman Empire and dive into the Medieval Kingdoms that grow out of its ashes, while getting into everything from Tolkien/LOTR, to Jägermeister, Warhammer 40K, R. Kelly, Maserati, Testosterone maxing, and Germanic/Norse paganism, as we explore how part of the Germanic world fused with Classical civilization and Christianity to create what you picture in your mind when you think of the word ‘medieval’, and how this event created a cultural fault line in the Germanic world that will trigger the Viking Age to come.
It's REALLY easy to 'snipe' issues in trailers, but I'm excited for this. Bloodaxe's story is not well known, and this looks higher budget / devoid of the cringe stuff the Vikings series had, nor are they DEI casting
In honor Leif Erikson Day, I am launching a 4-part (10 hr) series between October and January, on the violent story of how the Norse transformed into a people capable of lighting Northern Europe on fire…a story humanity has only recently begun to understand.
Stay tuned, it's going to completely upend your understanding of who, and what, the Norse are. It's a crazy story that by the end it will be genuinely disturbing.

Cross section history books are a gateway drug. Getting my kid started early.
Much of the Corded Ware (and subsequent groups) genocidal expansion from North Germany to Ireland and all the way east to India (Starting in ~3,000 BC) was done by small, uncoordinated, expeditionary death squads of young men ('Koryos') who identified with wolves

The North Sea is dangerous because it's SHALLOW: when Atlantic storms roll through, they can quickly create large, ship-breaking waves
The highway of the Viking Age sat on land that hunter gatherers had hunted on, but had been submerged in the millennia after the Younger Dryas
The North Sea is among the most dangerous oceans on earth, even with a strong wind, you are 100% rowing: getting across fast was the best guarantor of safety.
Viking raids are thought to have had a ~50% mortality rate, and shipwrecks were a significant part of that.
This was the best meme to come out of @erling becoming the ubermensch
Credit to @Templarpilled, this made me laugh
Imagine trying to not shit yourself when ~3-4 crews full of different versions of Erling Haaland show up out of the blue and you get *MAYBE* a 2 minute warning to find your children and run
Just crossed 6,000 downloads: a huge milestone for me. Truly, truly thankful for you all for helping make this long-form, deep dive history show on the Viking Age successful in our slop + vaporized attention span era. We’re successfully bucking the trend.
Super grateful
In the past, Germanic (including Anglo Saxon) Honor culture would have required an **extreme** level of violence for the rape of 250,000 of their women, as violent revenge was THE thing that restored your pride and honor.
A few of you have DM'd me asking for more details about Sidonius Apollinaris's Roman Villa we discussed in Episode 4, decided to create a thread 🧵 on it!
