In a joint submission ahead of #Sudan’s Fourth Universal Periodic Review (UPR), Liberal International and the Raoul Wallenberg Centre for Human Rights raise the alarm over patterns of ethnically motivated attacks against the Fur, Zaghawa, Massalit, and other non-Arab communities in Darfur and Kordofan. The submission documents allegations of genocide, ethnic persecution, sexual violence, reprisal killings, and attacks targeting civilians, while calling for accountability, justice, and urgent international action. We urge: ✅ Sudanese authorities to end the attacks on civilians and fully cooperate with international investigative bodies and the ICC to ensure accountability; ✅ All third States to stop arming and financing the warring parties; ✅ The international community to hold the RSF and allied militias accountable for ethnic attacks against non-Arab groups. The RSF must end the attacks immediately; and ✅ The international and regional communities to act immediately to end the violence and hold those responsible to account. 🔗 Read more: raoulwallenbergcentre.org/en… @liberalinternat

@liberalinternat

September 23 came & went. 🇸🇪🇪🇺 Dawit Isaak is still forcibly disappeared in Eritrea. His 25th anniversary passed. His captivity continues! @SwedishPM @kajakallas, how many more years will Sweden & the EU allow this to continue without consequences? What will it take to finally confront Eritrea’s refusal to answer even the most basic questions about his fate? Dawit has lost 25 years. How many more will he lose before the governments meant to protect him finally act? #FreeDawit Now! @SwedishPM @SweMFA @MariaStenergard @AmnestySverige @amnesty @pressfreedom @RSF_inter @FreeDawit @pen_int @PEN_Ertra @TheRWCHR @LantosFndn @RSF_RUG @Tunback @Europarl_EN @EP_President @EUCouncil @EritreaMfa @CPJAfrica @MehariMeng53005 @bergersus @ErmiLiberty @eu_eeas @kajakallas @UNHumanRights @UN_HRC @JasonPoblete @EvaMariaHall @Danait4 @BietelhemI @KurdoBaksi @esayasisaak @Edelstam

Your brave stand in support of political prisoners and their courageous, ongoing hunger strike for the 143rd consecutive Tuesday across 66 prisons in Iran, demanding an end to executions, is deeply appreciated. You are giving a voice to the voiceless, to prisoners who endure daily torture, are denied essential medical care, and are held in solitary confinement, isolated behind thick prison walls. Your solidarity reflects courage, humanity, dignity, and an ongoing commitment to human rights and universal values. Thank you for standing with those whose lives and freedom are under threat. #Abolitionofdeathpenalty #StopExecutionsInIran @IrwinCotler @CanadaUN

Standing in solidarity with political prisoners in #Iran on this #NoToExecutionTuesday and every day. Thank you to @SRfreedex_LMG and all those taking action on behalf of the brave Iranian people, who remain steadfast in the face of mass persecution, prosecution, and execution in an attempt by the regime to silence dissent. The international community must employ every legal, diplomatic, and economic instrument at its disposal to protect all political prisoners in Iran and to support their human rights and democratic aspirations.
I have begun my solidarity action in support of political prisoners in Iran and those participating in #NoToExecutionTuesdays #hungerstrike I stand with those facing persecution for their political opinions, expression and peaceful dissent, and reiterate my call for an immediate halt to executions. #StopExecutionsInIran

Ahmadreza Djalali. Sweden knows his name very well. So does the EU. Yet his life hangs in the balance while years of diplomatic efforts have failed to secure his release. @SwedishPM @MariaStenergard @kajakallas, what will Sweden & the EU do differently to change the outcome? Ahmadreza's life cannot remain the price of Europe’s inaction. #SaveAhmadreza @SweMFA @AmnestySverige @EUparliament @Europarl_EN @kajakallas @ScholarsAtRisk @eu_eeas @swedeniniran @VUBrussel @LucSels @DeGraeveWies @amnestyvl @amnestybe @VMehrannia @Sverigesriksdag @amnestyitalia @bergersus @GeertBourgeois @TheRWCHR @Edelstam @prevotmaxime @tomvdkendelaere @hildevautmans @weimers @DavidLega @EP_President @EU_Commission @vonderleyen @YlvaJohansson @asjohansson @EUCouncil @Free_Djalali @DjalaliFree @vonderleyen @EP_President @EU_Commission @EUCouncil

We join leading human rights organizations, genocide prevention advocates, scholars, and journalists in calling for the immediate release of Shahriar Kabir, a renowned Bangladeshi writer, journalist, filmmaker, and defender of historical memory. The concerns surrounding his deteriorating health, due process, and treatment in detention demand urgent attention. A deeply troubling trend is emerging in Iran: lawyers who defend protesters are themselves being imprisoned. The Islamic Republic's so-called justice system is increasingly being weaponized, not only to silence dissent but also to create an appearance of legality around political repression. But why does a government willing to openly crush dissent still feel the need to maintain the façade of due process? Is it designed to legitimize repression at home, shape perceptions abroad, or both? Experts tell Eye for Iran what lies behind this strategy and why even those defending the rule of law are becoming targets. Watch here: youtu.be/aJriRMKz5QY?list=PL… or listen on any podcast platform. @RoyaBoroumand @IranRights_org @TatyanaEatwell @TheRWCHR
Iran’s courts are being used to legitimize repression, legal experts warn. As protester executions rise, lawyers themselves face arrest and prosecution, while increasingly harsh laws criminalize dissent. On Eye for Iran, human rights experts Tatyana Eatwell, Roya Boroumand and Brandon Silver examine how the Islamic Republic uses courts, judges and sweeping national security laws to punish protesters, silence lawyers and instill fear. Watch the full discussion on Eye for Iran youtu.be/aJriRMKz5QY?t=1817. @RoyaBoroumand @TatyanaEatwell @TheRWCHR

The European Parliament has called for the immediate and unconditional release of political prisoners, including @AliKarimli, Anar Mammadli, and Anar Abdullayev, and urged preparations for targeted sanctions under the EU Global Human Rights Sanctions Regime. This marks a significant development in the EU response to human rights abuses in Azerbaijan and stregthens international pressure for accountability. Read more here: l.gotourl.es/l/ad5e7fa112915…
