Cyberpunk 2 is looking more likely to include multiplayer in some shape or form, based on recent job postings from CD Projekt RED, that mention multiplayer-related expertise🚀 Cyberpunk 2077 was originally meant to have a multiplayer expansion, but it was scraped. So it’s quite likely plans have moved to include it in CP2, whether as a separate mode or integrated into the main game😎

Jennifer Hale made a statement on BioWare closure and EA saying EA never understood BioWare and she hopes someone can buy and save the Mass Effect IP, among others🚀 “It’s really hard to think about BioWare being shut down, but it was in the hands of ownership that may not have understood what BioWare fully is. And I’m hopeful that maybe there might be some crazy thing where they decide that, in order to increase their profit margins—which is often their priority—they will release these IPs into the market to sell them, and use that to do what they do, which is increase their profit margins. Maybe someone could grab hold of these IPs and do something with them. Mark Darrah also echoed her sentiment in a statement within the same interview: “EA doesn’t understand BioWare. I’d argue it was an accidental acquisition. EA bought VG Holding—which included BioWare and Pandemic—largely to acquire Pandemic and Knights of the Old Republic, because it wanted an MMO and the Battlefront developers. In doing so, it ended up with BioWare Edmonton, the core old-school RPG studio. EA never really understood what it wanted from BioWare.” Source: @TheExaminedGame #SaveMassEffect

Don't Nod studio has reportedly entered a “safeguard procedure” to avoid complete insolvency due to mounting debts and an inability to secure funding🚀 ✅Nearly all non-managerial staff are slated to be fired across multiple departments (including animation, art, design, programming, and QA), halting the development of project P14. ✅Management plans to replace internal staff with outsourcing and contractors—a strategy criticized by the union as unrealistic and financially reckless. ✅The union accuses leadership of announcing financial updates to the press before employees, dismissing union negotiations, and ignoring internal warnings for years. ✅The CSE consultation concludes on November 3rd, with regional employment authorities reviewing the plan ahead of potential layoff letters on November 25th. Source: @rockpapershot It’s a real shame watching the studio that created one of the most successful adventure games (Life Is Strange) is facing such fate. Their recent releases weren’t exactly anything to write home about, and some statements made here and there didn’t exactly feel very gamer-friendly, but one would hope they can recover and come back stronger. Between BioWare, Ninja Theory, Don’t Nod and many others, we’re saying goodbye to many studios that defined the games of the last 15-20 years🥺

Epic Games CEO Tim Sweeney throws a jab at Valve saying Valve held gaming back for years🚀 He explained: “Valve has held gaming back for years by locking developers’ PC games into Steamworks’ social walled garden," noting that "players can’t talk to other players on iOS, Android, Xbox, PlayStation, Switch, or even other PC stores.” Source: @GamesRadar For context, this is the same Tim Sweeney who once said studios aren’t financially profitable deserve to be axed, and “vibe-coded” their Epic Games launcher😅

A24's Elden Ring adaptation is the largest standalone project ever put on sale at a film or TV market🚀 ✅Estimated between $175 million and $200 million, surpassing previous market tentpoles like The Hunger Games. ✅Written and directed by Alex Garland, the project is currently in post-production and generating high anticipation. ✅Amazon MGM secured international pay-1 streaming rights across numerous markets in a multi-million-dollar pre-emptive agreement. ✅The partnership with Amazon could lead to unique promotional activations on Twitch. Source: @DEADLINE Elden Ring is shaping up to be another phenomenon that might get video game adaptations further into serious film categories. With A24 and Alex Garland involved, and an already larger-than-life IP, it really feels like it’s gonna be the next banger that may possibly bring a video game-based movie into the Oscars. I’m curious how the narrative would work, because if done right, it could be this generation’s The Lord of the Rings😎

EA employees are speaking out about mismanagement, GenAI push and BioWare’s closure🚀 ✅Employees report that the "do less, better" mantra has simply resulted in handling the same workload with fewer staff. ✅Upper management is heavily promoting generative AI (specifically Claude), telling staff that adoption is mandatory for the future. ✅Workers believe the technology is being pushed to test how drastically EA can cut headcount while maintaining output. BioWare’s Decline & Closure ✅BioWare was repeatedly forced to abandon its strengths (narrative choice, consequences, companions) to chase unprofitable live-service and multiplayer trends, wasting significant resources. ✅Studio leadership grew overly reliant on user experience research (UXR) and fear-driven decision-making, stifling creative risk-taking before the studio's closure. Source: Vertical Slice Disappointed, but definitely not surprised. So much of what’s said reflects very much how many of us felt, as it was quite obvious for the last 10-15 years. Risk-averse development, “do less” mentality, cost-cutting..etc. I feel really bad for the studios and talents that had to be suffocated under EA’s mentality. It’s obvious what kind of people they were ever since they tried to gaslight gamers into thinking single player gaming to be dead.

Resident Evil executive producer Jun Takeuchi gives insights on the series past, present and their 10-year plan for the future🚀 🗺️10-Year Master Plan: ✅Code: Veronica Remake: Handled by the Resident Evil 4 Remake team; undergoing complex reworks to properly elevate the story's significance within the series. ✅Capcom is executing a strategic 10-year plan coordinating remakes and new titles; Requiem concludes Phase 1 ✅Multiple new games and deeper lore revelations (including Spencer's true nature) planned for the next decade. 🎮Development History & Challenges: ✅RE1 was developed under intense time and hardware constraints using pre-rendered backgrounds, establishing Capcom's culture of constant innovation. ✅With RE2, the team threw away a nearly completed version of Resident Evil 2 and rebuilt it entirely from scratch. ✅RE4 was a drastic shift, as it faced internal criticism ("This isn't Resident Evil"), but Takeuchi championed the evolution. ✅Resident Evil 6 failed to feel fresh because it became a disjointed "mosaic" of past games. ✅Takeuchi took over Resident Evil 7 at the chairman's request to steer the struggling project back to its survival-horror roots. 🎥Production & Technology: ✅Resident Evil Requiem utilized advanced performance capture (100+ crew), separate face and body models, and physical scanning (including scanning actors while hanging upside down). ✅Capcom views AI strictly as a tool for efficiency, leaving all creative work human-driven. Source: Interview/Article with Jun Takeuchi, via Yahoo Japan It’s quite incredible seeing Resident Evil, as a single player story driven horror series has endured for so long without losing its identity. It did explore here and there, yet still managed to deliver a consistent output of high quality games with short waiting intervals in-between, with new original games and remakes, especially in a time when most other games take 3-7 years from announcement to come out. Capcom truly are masters of their craft who don’t compromise with anything😎 #REBHFun

Nicolas “Sparth” Bouvier was Mass Effect 5 art director starting April 2026 until the game was cancelled and BioWare shut down🚀 He took over after Derek Watts, the art director of original trilogy, and lamented the great potential of the project and what could’ve been achieved. He said that he hasn’t seen a group so “right knit” and experienced like this in about 30 years Full statement: “It was a privilege to work alongside such a talented team, with the shared ambition of exploring new creative territories while staying true to the legacy and spirit of the Mass Effect trilogy. Knowing that this work will never see the light of day is truly heartbreaking. We were good at this. We really were. I’m thinking about the team, the talent, what we could have achieved. In nearly 30 years in this industry, I’ve rarely seen a group so tightly knit, so experienced, and so good at working together. And I feel extremely honored to have been part of it.” It’s such a shame to see a project that took so long, releasing breadcrumbs of vague promos here and there with such great promise eventually end up being cancelled so soon after things really got going in such a promising way… #SaveMassEffect

Francis Lawrence reiterates that his BioShock live-action movie is still in development at Netflix, and added some more info on production🚀 He stated that creating an original character when the game has “you” the player is a character was a bit of a challenge, but they’re “getting close: “It is a tough nut to crack that world and that story ... you are the character when you play the game, and so creating that character from scratch into that world, that is pretty batshit in a most amazing way. It's tricky. [but] we're getting close. Netflix right now has had regime changes and just all of that kind of nonsense that I don't like to have to deal with. So we'll see. Hopefully we'll figure it out”
