Why is Trump making so many concessions to Russia now?
I think it's three things.

The Companies House prosecution has been stayed, pending a Judicial Review hearing, for which a date has not even been set!
Standard Sanjeev Gupta tactics of delay, obstruction and obfuscation.
Sanjeev Gupta’s first steelworks, in Newport, Wales, has gone into liquidation. Gupta and fellow directors are being prosecuted for not publishing accounts since 2019.

Gotcha. SMH’s Callum Jaspan catches the News Corp tabloids stealing ch7’s scoop on the Helen Haines attack.

“Why do some British people dislike Donald Trump?”
Nate White, an eloquent and witty English writer, gave this magnificent answer:
Trump lacks certain qualities that the British traditionally value.
He has no nobility, no charm, no composure, no gravitas, no compassion, no wit, no warmth, no wisdom, no subtlety, no sensitivity, no self-awareness, no humility, no honour, and no grace — qualities with which, strangely enough, his predecessor, Mr Obama, was abundantly blessed.
Although Trump may be ridiculous, he has never said anything ironic, amusing, or even remotely funny — not once, ever. I do not mean this rhetorically. I mean it literally: never. To the British, a lack of humour is almost inhuman.
But with Trump, it is a fact. He does not even seem to understand what a joke is. To him, a joke is a crude remark, an illiterate insult, an act of casual cruelty.
Trump is like a troll: he never laughs or enjoys himself; he merely squeals with delight or derision.
And the most frightening thing is that he does not merely utter crude and stupid insults: he actually means them. His mind is nothing more than a robotic algorithm of petty prejudices and instinctive malice.
There is no irony in him, no complexity, no subtlety, no depth. Everything is superficial. What we see is a man without an inner world, without a soul.
In Britain, we traditionally side with David, not Goliath. All our heroes are courageous underdogs: Robin Hood, Dick Whittington, Oliver Twist.
Trump is neither courageous nor an underdog. He is the exact opposite.
He is not even merely a spoiled rich boy or a greedy fat cat. He is more like a giant white slug, a privileged Jabba the Hutt.
And, worse still, he is a bully.
When he finds himself among other bullies, he suddenly becomes a whining lackey.
He punches down — something a gentleman should never, could never, and must never do — and every blow he delivers is below the belt. He particularly enjoys attacking the vulnerable or the voiceless, and he kicks them when they are down.
That is why the fact that a substantial minority — perhaps a third — of Americans watch what he does, listen to what he says, and then think, “Yes, he seems like my kind of guy,” is a source of bewilderment and profound distress to the British.
After all, it is impossible to read a single tweet of his or hear him utter a sentence or two without staring into the abyss. He turns shallowness into an art form. He is the Picasso of pettiness, the Shakespeare of shit. His flaws are fractal: even his flaws have flaws, and so on to infinity.
There have always been stupid people in the world, and villains have never been in short supply either. But rarely has stupidity been so evil, or evil so stupid.
He makes Nixon seem trustworthy and George W. Bush seem intelligent.
If Frankenstein had decided to create a monster composed entirely of human flaws, he would have created Trump, and the remorseful Dr Frankenstein would have cried out in despair, “My God, what have I created?”
If an idiot were a television show, Trump would be the entire set.

People saying it’s Manchester United’s worst defeat in the Champions League since the 4-0 loss at Camp Nou in 1994. I was there for that and knew something was up when I saw Peter Schmeichel having a coffee in the press room an hour before kick-off. The 4-0 was bad but there were excuses, the 3+2 rule, Schmeichel sacrificed, and the quality of Barcelona – Romario, Stoichkov, Koeman, Guardiola.
United's 4-1 loss to Como is worse. No excuses. No energy. Just a terrible performance, bordering on the spineless, summing up all the lack of leadership and responsibility-taking at the club. So much wrong about the club, from the Glazers with their debt, to the board and naïve recruitment. The team crying out for full-backs and a back-up striker and splurging money on midfielders, including a reserve from Chelsea and a player in Tielemans whose best years are behind him, who needs legs around him and whose main attraction was arguably his release clause.
The dysfunctional, divided nature of the United family absolutely summed up by Bruno Fernandes during and after the game. A captain who failed to raise his own game or rally his players. A supposed leader who has now questioned his manager’s tactics.
Michael Carrick's tactics and changes can certainly be questioned. He may eventually pay the price for the shambles in Como. It's cheaper than shipping out the under-performing players. But Carrick is not the real problem. He doubtless sees players who lack his passion for the shirt. He could be forgiven for looking at Wilcox and Berrada and thinking how badly he was let down in the summer transfer window.
And he's on the brink. Manchester United may be ousting the one individual who cares most about the team and the club. Which sums up the total mess they are in. #MUFC

🚨🎙️ Gary Neville on Manchester United’s humiliating 4–1 defeat to Como:
🗣️"Do you honestly want me to talk about this? Because honestly, the absolute worst thing that could have ever happened to Manchester United last season was qualifying for the Champions League.
We didn't come out here tonight to play football. We simply came on here to get humiliated, because that’s apparently what’s happening to this football club week in, week out.
It hurts to watch. It genuinely hurts the eyes. You’re sitting there looking at players walking around the pitch like they’re playing a testimonial match while Como is running rings around them.
And then what happens? You look at the pitch and you say, 'Right, get them off, they’re not good enough.' So you look to the bench for replacements, and the replacements are just as bad, if not worse!
It’s a vicious, never-ending cycle. You bring players in for millions of pounds, they give you absolutely nothing, and then you're stuck wondering how this club has fallen this far.
Every single department from top to bottom is an absolute shambles. Conceding inside two minutes, getting torn apart 4–1 by Como—it’s an embarrassment.
I’m sick of analyzing it. I’m sick of making excuses for players who don’t care and a recruitment structure that hasn’t got a clue what it’s doing.
Until there is a total root-and-branch clearout of people who actually understand the standards of this football club, we’re just going to keep turning up to venues across Europe to be absolute laughingstocks."
