I join other UN mandate holders warning #EU and other states that they must not send Afghans back to danger and must uphold their international human rights obligations, including the principle of non-refoulement. There must be no normalisation or legitimation of the Taliban unless there are concrete improvements in human rights. Meetings with Taliban delegations such as in Brussels are regrettable and even when designated “technical” risk normalisation of gross human rights violations by the Taliban, including gender persecution. We wait replies to our official communications to the EU and some states. Please read the full statement:

We remember those lost on 9/11–and those impacted by the injustices that followed… Red T was founded in response to one such injustice, driving our mission to protect #translators & #interpreters in high-risk settings. #ProtectLinguists

USA: The will of the people: The time is now for Congress to act on the Afghanistan TPS Act of 2026! #ProtectLinguists
84 percent. That is the share of American voters who say the United States should commit to protecting the Afghans who stood with our forces, and their families. #StillWithUS

USA: We support the introduction of the Afghan TPS Act of 2026 and urge its swift passage as a necessary step to address the safety concerns of former Afghan #interpreters living in the United States. #ProtectLinguists
Our statement on the Senate introduction of the bipartisan Afghanistan TPS Act of 2026. A HUGE thank you to Sen’s Coons, Murkowski, Cassidy, and Klobuchar for always standing with our allies. You can take action to support this today at afghanevac.org/tps

Non-refoulement is absolute & non-derogable. No exceptions allowed, no assurances from dfA can neutralize this risk. Torture remains a genuine risk in #Afghanistan. I urge the EU & its member states not to return Afghans to danger. @EU_Commission

USA: Exactly! Thank you @RepGraceMeng. #ProtectLinguists
Why are we rolling out the red carpet for 17,500 Afrikaners with no ties here while stranding 1,100 Afghan allies who risked their lives for our country? “Assimilation” isn’t an answer. It’s a dog whistle. And it’s wrong.

USA: Critical Info⬇️ #ProtectLinguists
A federal court has just ordered that @StateDept to notify all SIVs who have received Chief of Mission approval but haven’t yet interviewed or received their visa that their visas will be denied if they interview. This is the language they’ll receive.

Afghans risked their lives to help the U.S. as advisors, interpreters, and special operation forces. Turning our backs on our allies—including family members of U.S. servicemembers and hundreds of children—to send them to war-torn DRC is evil and wrong. nytimes.com/2026/04/21/world…

Local Staff International and @UniOfYork released landmark guidelines to protect locally employed civilians (LECs) in international missions. Red T applauds this initiative, which serves to strengthen LECs’ safety and rights. #ProtectLinguists localstaffinternational.org/…

Does America stand by the Afghan Allies who stood by it?
Mullin once suggested it should. Now he can prove it, I argue in WaPo. Gift link. wapo.st/4c2ZgnS
