The Edmonton Elks organization extends its condolences to the Saskatchewan Roughriders, and the friends and family of Jayden Dalke.
A local product, Jayden’s pro football journey began in Edmonton as a member of both the Edmonton Wildcats and the University of Alberta Golden Bears.
This tragedy will be felt by the entire Canadian football community. Jayden will be dearly missed.
It is with profound sadness that the Saskatchewan Roughriders mourn the loss of linebacker and team captain Jayden Dalke, who passed away in a car accident yesterday evening. A relentless warrior on the field, Jayden’s determination, toughness and work ethic inspired his teammates, who cared deeply for him and are heartbroken by his passing.
Jayden had a unique gift of making the people around him feel special and valued. No one ever left a conversation with him without a smile. On and off the field, he was the true definition of what it means to be a Saskatchewan Roughrider.
Our hearts go out to the entire Dalke family, who traveled the country to watch Jayden live his dream. We will miss him terribly and will never forget the impact he had on our lives and our team.

LB Run Fits Drill
The video outlines a linebacker drill designed to help players adjust their run fits based on the movement of defensive linemen. Key learning points include:
- Dynamic Gap Fitting: Linebackers must be prepared to "make it right" rather than just fitting a pre-assigned gap if the defensive front is compromised.
- Drill Setup: The drill utilizes a defensive lineman (represented by a coach with a bag) and a running back to simulate real-game scenarios.
- Reacting to Defensive Line Movement: The linebacker must observe where the defensive lineman's head goes, such as a 3-technique getting knocked into an A-gap or a 2-eye getting reached or pushed into a B-gap.
- Responding to Ball Carrier Cuts: Linebackers must mirror the running back’s cut and then "thud" him up to finish the tackle.
- Redirecting and Filling: Players must practice redirecting their momentum; for example, if a linebacker expects to fill the B-gap but finds it occupied by a teammate, they must quickly jump cut or redirect to fill the new open gap.
- Downhill Aggression: The goal of the drill is to train linebackers to see the opening and get downhill quickly to fill the vacant gap.
